A Message from the President
Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy have worked diligently to combat COVID-19 and plan for the 2020-2021 School Year.

RSVP TODAY!
All incoming freshmen at Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are invited to attend the 12th Annual Party @ Presque Isle (being held at Hagerty Family Events Center) for an evening full of fun, food, games, and music by a live DJ. This is a great opportunity for members of both freshmen classes to meet each other and have some fun together before school begins.

The event has been moved to the Hagerty Family Events Center to provide more space and opportunities for activities that are within the guidelines of social distancing.

We will be taking precautions to ensure the health and safety of attendees. Everyone in attendance will have their temperature taken upon entry, sanitation stands will be available throughout the facility, and other measures will be taken to keep attendees safe. Attendees will be required to wear a face covering such as a mask or face shield.

Attendees are asked to have a participation waiver signed by their parent/guardian and emailed to the Admissions Office or brought to the event.

FREE PIAA Physicals for all incoming and current students at Prep and Villa playing any sport during the 2020 - 2021 school year!
FREE PIAA physicals will be given on Wednesday, July 29 th from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Hagerty Family Events Center. If there are any doctors or nurses who would like to voluntary to assist, please contact Patty in the Prep athletic office @ 453-7737 Ext.2277 or via email at patty.kloecker@prep-villa.com

8th GRADE HONORS PROGRAM
PREP ORIENTATION

There will be a mandatory orientation for all 8 th Grade Honors Program Students and their parents in Cathedral Prep’s Auditorium on Monday, August 17 th at 3:00pm . At that time students will be able to pick up their iPad (please refer to enclosed iPad Pick-Up flyer), sit for a presentation from the Tech Department, receive a welcome from the Vice President, and learn more about the rules, expectations, etc. Students will also be given their locks, lockers, and shown their classrooms. The meeting is expected to last about 75 minutes. Parents can park in the 9 th Street parking lot.

Villa Maria Academy
Cheerleading
Any students interested in in participating in Villa Cheerleading for this coming season, there will be a meeting at Villa next Tuesday, July 14th at 3pm . The meeting will cover the workout schedule as well as the introduction to our new coach.
If you plan to attend the meeting, please enter the school through the front main entrance and wear a mask.

Attention ALL Prep & Villa Students!
Cathedral Prep Football
is looking for Team Managers!
The duties of our managers include but are not limited to…

  1. Attend all practices and games
  2. Sanitize football equipment before and after practice using a sprayer system
  3. Assist coaches with on-field drills when needed
  4. Set-up on-field equipment pre-practice
  5. Pick-up and put away equipment post-practice
  6. Assist in hydration of team (only when the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted)
  7. Set-up and tear down of equipment before and after every game
  8. Assist with inventory of equipment, jerseys, apparel, etc. as needed
All incoming and current students at Prep & Villa are invited to join the Cathedral Prep Football team as a Team Manager!
Team Managers would be a member of the team and one of the most important positions in the program. Cathedral Prep Football is looking to hire 2-3 additional managers for the 2020 season.

The schedule once the season starts is:
Monday-Thursday after school until 5:45 p.m. 
Friday games from after school until ~10:00 p.m. 
Summer workouts are every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 – ~9:45 a.m.

AF JROTC ZERO WEEK
August 3rd - 5th
All incoming freshmen at Prep and Villa scheduled to take the Air Force JROTC Global & Cultural Studies course for 9th grade social studies are highly encouraged to participate in Zero Week taking place the first week of August. If you are not scheduled for the Air Force JROTC course you are still able to attend the program to find out if ROTC is an activity you'd like to take part in. Zero Week introduces students to ROTC, helps with making friends before school starts, and gives you an extra bit of confidence before beginning high school.

Freshmen from both Prep and Villa will be in attendance. All students scheduled for ROTC will receive a personal phone call from a current Prep or Villa cadet.

RETURN TO PLAY
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
Governor Wolf released guidance on return to play for high school athletics. Prep-Villa have completed their Return to Play Plan and we are now permitted to hold out-of-season voluntary workouts.

All students participating, and their parent(s)/guardian(s) are required to sign a “Participation Waiver for Communicable Diseases Including COVID-19” form. This form must be completed and on file before a student will be permitted to participate in any voluntary open workouts, practices, or events. Uniforms

Villa Maria Academy uniform measuring night scheduled for May 4th and May 5th has been cancelled .

REGULAR UNIFORM:
  • Plaid Skort
  • White short or long sleeve uniform polo shirt with logo
  • Socks or tights
  • Sweater (choice of four; need to only purchase one):

DRESS UNIFORMUniform sweater and tights required  on dress uniform days.

SKORT LENGTH : Skorts much be no shorter than 4 inches above center of knee

SHOES:  Shoes can not be open-toed. Soles of shoes must be of shoe, not slipper, quality. Sperry Boat Shoes or Mary Jane type shoes are acceptable.

  • SOCKSWhite, grey, or navy socks, tights, or stockings may be worn. Only crew or knee socks may be worn.

Financial Aid
Although the Financial Aid Deadline has passed, Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are still accepting applications and awarding tuition assistance.

All applications for Financial Aid from Prep and Villa must be submitted through FACTS.

Enrichment Resources
Some families have expressed concern with their sons and daughters getting behind academically due to the school closures.

To address this concern, the Prep and Villa faculty have compiled student enrichment resources which middle school students can access to continue their learning and strengthen their academic foundation.

If your son or daughter is interested in enrolling at Cathedral Prep or Villa Maria Academy for the 2020 - 2021 school year it is not too late to start the process!

Due to COVID-19 we have made some adjustments to the admissions process so we can continue with enrolling students.

Catholic Elementary
Scholarship Program
Cathedral Prep and
Villa Maria Academy are proud to offer the Catholic Elementary Scholarship Program (CESP) in which all incoming freshmen graduating from Diocesan grade schools are guaranteed a minimum of $3,000 in tuition assistance each school year regardless of a family's income. That's a total savings of $12,000 over four years! Qualifying families can receives thousands of dollars more in tuition assistance!

There are still many opportunities for students from public schools to receive assistance with the tuition and we encourage all families with questions to contact the Admissions Office at both campuses to find out what your family qualifies for.
