Our Mission: To proclaim Christ through faith, hope and love.

There is an overriding message of love at the heart of the Christian Gospel. This message fills the pages of both the Hebrew and Christian Bible and is unavoidable.

“For God so loved the world that God sent Jesus into the world so that the world might be saved through Him”. (John 3:16) This is one of my favorite passages from Scripture and reminds me, over and over, of God’s unending, extravagant love for the world – which includes you and me.

It seems that God’s declaration of love for all is difficult to grasp and even more difficult to live in. In our binary way of thinking we are either considered right or wrong, left or right, and, in a recent declaration, male or female.

We are called to live authentically – it is one of the greatest gifts that Cathedral of Hope has offered to God’s people for the past 55 years.

This Sunday is our Celebrating Drag Sunday! We will have a guest preacher at the traditional services, the Rev. Brooke Dooley, who will preach as her drag king persona Brock Bottoms! I will be preaching at the 11:45 contemporary service. There is a drag brunch at the Rose Room at S4 after the 10 am service. If you are intending to go to the drag brunch, please purchase your tickets today. While you are also able to purchase tickets at the door on Sunday, this helps us cater for this special event. This is a fundraiser, so your donation really counts!

God is love and love is God. There it is, plain and simple. Let us come together to manifest that love, specifically for those who will join us on this special Sunday and live into the fullest experience of that love that brought us together and continues to bring us into the fullest understanding of God’s creation.

Fondly,

Fearless and Free

"A gorgeous, captivating gem of a memoir...Josephine Baker's as enthralling on the page as she was on the stage." --Abbott Kahler, New York Times bestselling author of Eden Undone and Sin in the Second City

Get Your Copy Here

Published in the US for the first time, Fearless and Free is the memoir of the fabulous, rule-breaking, one-of-a-kind Josephine Baker, the iconic dancer, singer, spy, and Civil Rights activist.

After stealing the spotlight as a teenaged Broadway performer during the height of the Harlem Renaissance, Josephine then took Paris by storm, dazzling audiences across the Roaring Twenties. In her famous banana skirt, she enraptured royalty and countless fans--Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso among them. She strolled the streets of Paris with her pet cheetah wearing a diamond collar. With her signature flapper bob and enthralling dance moves, she was one of the most recognizable women in the world.

When World War II broke out, Josephine became a decorated spy for the French Résistance. Her celebrity worked as her cover, as she hid spies in her entourage and secret messages in her costumes as she traveled. She later joined the Civil Rights movement in the US, boycotting segregated concert venues, and speaking at the March on Washington alongside Martin Luther King Jr.

First published in France in 1949, her memoir will now finally be published in English. At last, we can hear Josephine in her own voice: charming, passionate, and brave. Her words are thrilling and intimate, like she's talking with her friends over after-show drinks in her dressing room. Through her own telling, we come to know a woman who danced to the top of the world and left her unforgettable mark on it.

Black History Month

February

As we enter Black History Month, we take time to honor the profound contributions of Black individuals to the church, society, and the broader story of justice and liberation. Their resilience and faith have been a beacon of hope, rooted in a deep trust in God's promises, even amidst the harshest trials. From the prophetic voices of Sojourner Truth and Frederick Douglass to the enduring legacy of the Black Church as a wellspring of community and activism, we recognize how God has worked through Black history to inspire transformation and reconciliation. Let this month be a call to remember, celebrate, and commit ourselves anew to the ongoing work of justice, equality, and love for all of God's children.

Visit our website to find our more about our Hope For All Colors advocacy group or send them an email at hopeforallcolors@cathedralofhope.com. Hope For All Colors brings together Black people, People of Color, and all allies. They seek to decrease the cultural divide and increase a multicultural presence within our communities through spirituality, service, and social connections.

Our groups are starting up the first week of January! This is really where we connect with one another and grow spiritually. So, whether it is our life groups, social groups, or our advocacy groups, this is an important part of our church life because we are a church of groups, not a church with groups.

You can visit our website or email Rev. Jeremy at jrose@cathedralofhope.com to get more information on all of the groups we offer.

Prayer Call

Saturday February 15, 2025

Online | 10am (CST)

Submit Prayer Requests Here

Biblical scriptures abound with the call to prayer: to pray unceasingly, to lift up prayers of intercession for others, to pray if we would draw near to God. Please join Hope For All Colors (Formally Coat of Colours) members on our zoom prayer call on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10am.

A speaker will share a brief word of encouragement, a poem, commentary on a spiritual text, or personal witness and then we turn our hearts to prayer for requests sent in or from the group.

To join us live on the prayer call, click this ZOOM link.

If you have any prayer requests or needs, please let us know so we can pray with you and for you.

"A Different Kind of Fast"

Mar 13 - Apr 17, 2025

7pm - 8:30pm

Fellowship Hall

Register Here

We live in a culture that depends on distracting us from our true hungers and holding onto things that are not helpful for us. When we identify with these surface hungers and unhelpful things, we will consume more and more in the search for satisfaction. This sermon series, A Different Kind of Fast, invites us to physically fast from various kinds of consuming in a world of oversaturated distractions and unhelpful things and embrace presence, abundance, slowness, tenderness, unfolding, and mystery.

This book will be available in the bookstore. If you need a complimentary copy, contact Rev. Jeremy at jrose@cathedralofhope.com.

This class is designed for those NOT in a life group or would rather a classroom setting.
