A voluntary, county-wide collaboration focused on improving health, health equity, and health care for Washtenaw's low-income, uninsured, and underinsured populations.

Washtenaw Health Initiative members and stakeholders are encouraged to vote by October 11. The award was developed to honor collaborations that have had a significant and positive impact on community health during the COVID-19 pandemic, including hoteling residents experiencing homelessness and increasing food access.
|

How a Washtenaw County program is reducing homelessness for less than $100 per person. In the first three months of 2021, the Washtenaw Continuum of Care (CoC) used a new diversion program to help 23 individuals and 13 families avoid homelessness. The WHI, and member organizations, contributed to this initiative.
|
|
|
|
|
The WHI was originally formed to prepare for the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. 10 years later, WHI member organizations are still collaborating. Members will celebrate milestones during the October 18 Stakeholder meeting, which will include a special panel on the positive impacts of the ACA and the challenges that remain.
|
|
|
|
The new Health Equity Project aims to reduce health disparities for vulnerable residents in five counties, including Livingston and Washtenaw. The WHI's Mi Community Care (MiCC) project, supported by the Center for Health and Research Transformation, will implement strategies to reduce inequities associated with social needs on behalf of the Health Equity Project.

This September, WHI Communications Committee Co-Chair Liz Conlin met with Catherine McClary, Washtenaw County treasurer, to discuss her multifaceted career, including her early history in women's health and her current aspirations for making our county a more equitable community by dismantling structural inequalities.
|

Mission: To be a place where people experiencing addiction can go for help, regardless of their drug of choice or ability to pay for treatment.
Description of services: Dawn Farm offers a continuum of long-term treatment services to help people achieve long-term recovery. This continuum includes residential treatment, transitional housing, outpatient care, sub-acute detoxification, and a range of active outreach programs.
