Giving Back and Providing Help for the Future

As he approaches his 75th birthday, Father Tom Brown is reflecting on his life in priestly ministry. With both gratitude and hope for the future, through his estate plans he established The Reverend Thomas E. Brown Endowment for Clergy Health and Welfare as well as The Reverend Thomas E. Brown Endowment for Missionary Priest Service.

Grant in Action

The Catholic Foundation board of directors became aware of a need for funding designated for the 2025 Diocese of Erie Emmaus Convocation, an annual gathering of priests and deacons which provides our clergy a time for rest, reflection and renewal of their commitment to Christ and to one another.

Grants in Action

Saint Marys Catholic Elementary School received an upgrade to their STREAM curriculum thanks to a recent Education grant from the Catholic Foundation. This grant supported the purchase of Wonder Workshop Dash Robots and accessories.


From Franchesca Herzing, Director of Advancement: "Students in grades K–5 have benefited from engaging, collaborative learning experiences that promote problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking while strengthening our STREAM curriculum. Thank you for investing in our students. Your generosity is helping prepare our students with skills that will serve them for years to come."

Sixteen youth from the Risen and Rooted Regional Catholic Youth Ministry in Erie recently took a mission trip supported by an Education grant from the Catholic Foundation.


They enjoyed a performance of Joshua from Sight & Sound Theatres in Lancaster, and assisted in various service projects around DuBois. Pictured here is the group at Mass at Holy Spirit Parish in DuBois with Fr. Michael Scanga.

These projects were supported by grants from the Education Endowment of the Catholic Foundation.

Our Fall Education grant cycle is now open and accepting applications through September 21! This grant cycle is open to Catholic parishes, Catholic schools, and diocesan offices.
