Welcome to Catholic Fundamentals!

Whether you are exploring Catholicism for the first time or are a long-time Catholic, we hope that this eNewsletter will be a useful resource as you (re)discover the fundamentals of the Catholic faith. From September through May, we are following along with the topics discussed in our Becoming Catholic (RCIA) process.

Our goal is to share practical, credible Catholic resources that are freely available to anyone. Many of the videos can be accessed on Formed.org through our parish subscription. If this is your first time using Formed.org, click here to get started.

This Week's Topic:

A Walk Through Salvation History

What's in the Bible? How do I find it? How do I make sense of it all? If you are intimidated by the Bible or worry that you don't know as much about Scripture as you should, you're not alone. This week, our goal is to become familiar with the Bible itself and the basic outline of the beautiful love story told through Scripture.

After you explore the resources in this eNewsletter, visit StPius.net/Bible for a compilation of even more Bible study resources!

Explore: A Walk Through Salvation History

Can you summarize the entire Bible in 10 minutes? If anyone can do it, Father Mike Schmitz can!

In Episode 4 of Symbolon, "The Story of Salvation: Creation, Fall, & Redemption," we learn how the events of an ancient past set into motion God's rescue operation to save us from eternal death.

Symbolon is a production of the Augustine Institute. Watch for free on Formed.org through our parish subscription. If this is your first time using Formed.org, click here to get started.

Living Water is a new Bible study at SPX, created by Fr. Augustine Onuoha and Ashley Logsdon in collaboration with the McGrath Institute for Church Life. We strive to combine smart biblical scholarship, Ignatian imaginative prayer, and small-group faith sharing to equip you to dive deep into the Gospels. Our hope is that you will encounter Jesus Christ anew through Scripture and be energized to share Christ with others in your daily life.

We post session notes and audio recordings so that you can follow along from home. Visit https://livingwaterbiblestudy.blog to view resources from past sessions, and consider joining us in October for our next Bible study season!

Saint Jerome

If you love Scripture - or if you struggle with being a bit cranky or sarcastic - then Jerome is the saint for you! Saint Jerome translated the Bible from Hebrew and Greek into Latin, making the text of Scripture available to a much wider readership. Click here to learn more about Jerome's life.
