This Week's Topic: Embodied Holiness

We should not grow discouraged before examples of holiness that appear unattainable . . . The important thing is that each believer discern his or her own path, that they bring out the very best of themselves, the most personal gifts that God has placed in their hearts rather than hopelessly trying to imitate something not meant for them. We are all called to be witnesses, but there are many actual ways of bearing witness.”

(Pope Francis, Gaudete et Exsultate paragraph 11)

This week, we consider how Christ invites each one of us to embody the universal call to holiness within the particular circumstances of our daily lives.

INTO LIFE: Love Changes Everything

One of the most counter-cultural elements of Catholic moral teaching is the Church's comprehensive and uncompromising commitment to honoring the life and dignity of every person. The Sisters of Life are a Catholic religious order whose charism (mission given to them by the Holy Spirit) is the protection and cherishing of every human life, with a special focus on mothers and their unborn children.

The Sisters of Life and the McGrath Institute for Church Life teamed up with CampCampo Films to create INTO LIFE: Love Changes Everything, a 12-part video series based on the work of the Sisters serving women who are pregnant. Journey with the Sisters of Life as they explain what it means to walk with a woman who is pregnant and vulnerable. Learn what it means to deeply listen to and understand the heart of another, how to rejoice in the beauty of the individual person, and what it means to truly accompany someone into God’s life and freedom.

More Podcasts for the Journey

Here are two more podcasts to help you grow in and live out your Catholic faith in your daily life!

The Word on Fire Show is a weekly discussion in which Bishop Barron and Dr. Matthew Petrusek take a deep dive into all things faith and culture.

"Ask Fr. Josh is the podcast where I hear you out and do my best to help you navigate the tricky times in life when our Catholic Faith doesn’t give you an easy 'fill-in-the blank' answer."

Saint Pius X

We conclude by honoring our own patron saint, Saint Pius X (1835-1914). From his impoverished origins to his ministry as pope, he was known for his humility and for his love for the Eucharist. Saint Pius X, pray for us!
