Introduction

Welcome to Catholic Fundamentals! Whether you are exploring Catholicism for the first time or are a long-time Catholic, we hope that this eNewsletter will be a useful resource as you (re)discover the fundamentals of the Catholic faith. From September through May, we will follow along with the topics discussed in our Becoming Catholic (RCIA) process, sharing a few digital resources each week to help you go deeper.

Our goal is to share practical, credible Catholic resources that are freely available to anyone. Many of the videos can be accessed on Formed.org through our parish subscription. If this is your first time using Formed.org, click here to get started.

This Week's Topic:

Encountering God the Father

Today, we contemplate one of the foundational Mysteries of our Catholic faith: the Trinity. In the coming weeks, we'll focus on getting to know each of the divine Persons of the Trinity, beginning this week with God the Father.

Explore: Encountering God the Father

In Episode 1 of Symbolon, "The Journey of Faith: Trinity, Faith & the God Who Is Love," we begin our journey into the heart of the Catholic faith as pilgrims, exploring the reality of God, who he is, and how he expresses himself to us in the most meaningful way imaginable.

Symbolon is a production of the Augustine Institute. Watch for free on Formed.org through our parish subscription. If this is your first time using Formed.org, click here to get started.

God is Father - this is the life-altering revelation of Jesus. Yet, how many of us struggle to know that we have a Father in heaven who knows, loves, and chooses us as His sons and daughters? Join Fr. Dave Pivonka as he journeys home to reflect on the urgent need to know God as Father amidst the backdrop of his hometown and the relationship he shared with his dad. This poignant documentary series explores the transformative impact of embracing our inheritance, unraveling the intricate tapestry of fear, doubt, shame, and brokenness to reveal a loving Father– for each of us.

Join us at SPX for our fall video series, My Father's Father. Sessions take place on Mondays from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., beginning September 16. Watch the bulletin for more details!

Saint Patrick

Besides his Irish association (even though he wasn't actually Irish), Saint Patrick is perhaps most famous for his use of the shamrock as an analogy to help people understand the Trinity. Click here to learn more about Saint Patrick's life. Saint Patrick was also an amazing evangelist, passionate about sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with others. Below is a video with some life lessons that all of us can learn from Saint Patrick about sharing our faith!
