A New Saint: Pauline Jaricot
The Pontifical Mission Society is celebrating 200 years of giving hope to children and families in the Missions, and their founder, Pauline Jaricot will be beatified on May 22 (watch the ceremony LIVE).

The life-changing work of the Pontifical Mission Societies began with a simple invitation between neighbors 200 years ago. Pauline Marie Jaricot asked those in her community to offer prayers and small donations in support of the universal missions of the Catholic Church. The network slowly expanded across continents. Today, some 1,100 dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands benefit from what Pauline began and countless other generous people continued. The Penny Wars our students do now to assist the missions is similar to Pauline's method of fundraising, the 'circle of 10'.
Child Safety Kits
Every parent’s greatest fear is the thought of a child gone missing. Child safety experts say, while highly unlikely, if the unthinkable happens, every minute counts. That’s why the Green Bay Packers, Alliant Energy, the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Department of Public Instruction have teamed up to provide families with free National Child Identification Kits.

These kits allow parents to collect fingerprints and other information that can help law enforcement access your child’s information if they go missing. It saves law enforcement time and allows them to start looking for a missing child quickly.

The DPI has included private schools in the effort. Principals should contact their local school district to get free kits. The kits are expected to be available in the coming weeks for distribution before the school year ends.

To learn more about the kits, go here. There is no need to pay to obtain the kits from the website; contact your local public school district for free ones they are getting from the DPI.

School Choice Intent-to-Attend Report Due June 2
Your school must notify DPI of those students that intend to accept or decline the WPCP voucher by completing the Intent to Attend Report in the Online Application System (OAS) by midnight on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

Schools should reach out to their parents either through a call or email such as:

Your child has been selected to receive a voucher as part of the Wisconsin School Choice Program. To accept or decline the voucher, please reply to this email with either “I accept” or “I decline”.

Please feel free to call me at XXXXXX with any questions you may have.

Keep a copy of the response email in their file. You may need to call a few stragglers after Memorial Day but this will decrease the amount of calls. Schools should document the day and time of the call for each family and place that in the student file.

  • To access the report, schools should sign into the OAS and click "Intent to Attend" on the left menu bar under "Applications".

  • Parents have until 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 2 to let your school know and the school must enter the parent's response ("Yes, Will Attend", "No, Will Not Attend", or "No Answer") by midnight on Thursday, June 2. If a parent fails to contact your school, the voucher will be offered, if possible, to the next student selected in the random drawing which may not necessarily be a student that applied to your school.
