Thanksgiving Prayer
Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of  Jesus , Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy, and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.

So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

Letters of Recommendation Issues
Please be reminded that the updated deadline to submit Kohl Student and Teacher Applications is, Tuesday, November 27 at 5 pm. The system will not allow applications to be submitted after this time.

As the submission deadline for the applications approaches, applicants should be aware of the following issues with the Letters of Recommendation.
Troubleshooting Letters of Recommendation:
Letter writers’ emails that end with sbcglobal.net and att.net do not work with the online system. Letter writers with these emails will not receive any notifications from the online system.
If you used an email with either url:
  • If you have submitted your application: You must contact Daniel Henderson at dhenderson@wcris.org or (608) 278-1224 to fix this. This cannot be fixed by the applicant.
  • If you have not submitted your application, you can delete the letter writer and add an email that works or a new letter writer’s email.
  • One other important note: If a student or teacher requested a letter of recommendation from someone who has an email address that ends in att.net or sbcglobal.net, they most likely did NOT get the request. Those email domains are not working with the vendor. If this is the case, they NEED to contact Daniel Henderson at dhenderson@wcris.org

If you are still waiting for letters to come in, make sure that you have used the right email address of the letter writer. You should follow up with the letter writer to ensure that they have received the notification email from SmartSimple. If the letter writer cannot access the online portal, please contact Daniel Henderson at dhenderson@wcris.org or (608) 278-1224 to have their access reset.

Please note that the WCRIS office is closed from Thursday, November 22 to Sunday, November 25. Phone calls and emails received during this time will be addressed on Monday, November 26.

If you have questions regarding the Kohl applications, be advised that you should reach out to WCRIS now through Wednesday to make sure your issues can be resolved before the deadline.

The consultation process is documented in both the Title I section of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the uniform provisions of Title VII, which apply to other programs in ESSA in which private school students participate. Exactly what does the law say about consultation? What does it mean to “reach agreement?” What topics should be discussed? This webinar on consultation will present an overview of the process for ESSA. Subsequent webinars will take a deeper dive into the process in the areas of funding, defining educational need, and strategies and safeguards to ensure equitable participation.
