Dear Friends,

Every year the Church in the United States designates one week in January to honor and promote the mission of Catholic education throughout the country. The week is marked by special events taking place in our schools, liturgical celebrations of prayer in our parishes, and, of course, promotion of our schools and their unique mission and educational philosophy within the larger community. As pastor and director of our two schools, I am so proud of their rich legacy and the great strides they have taken in recent years to better align themselves to one another so that we create stronger schools unified in mission.

I am also encouraged by the partnerships we have developed with you to advance the mission and support it. We could not be the strong schools we are without you being important partners with us in this work. For this reason, I am delighted to share with you the exciting initiatives taking place in both ICS and IHS that will unite our community in the spirit of giving.

Our elementary school students and parents are on a heartfelt mission to support the Spartan Spring Luncheon and the upcoming Glow Run fundraiser in February. In the unique spirit of our Catholic parochial school system, I invite you to join this mission of giving.

Next week, we launch our Grade Basket Challenge with each grade supporting a basket theme and a goal of $500, coupled with a new initiative to support funding for essential class technology needs through the Glow Run that you will be hearing more about very soon. Your support and promotion will cultivate a sense of community among our students, making their Glow Run a shining success alongside our April Spring Luncheon.

Simultaneously, our high school students, parents, alumni, and friends are called to rise to the challenge with the Spartan Spirit Challenge. We invite all Spartans to join together in this exciting endeavor, embracing the distinctive character of our Spartan Spirit traditions.

Immaculata High School seeks your assistance in selecting basket items through our Amazon Wish List, purchasing gift cards via our scrip program, or making direct financial gifts to the Spartan Spring Luncheon. The accumulation of these contributions throughout the month will contribute to the points awarded during the Spartan Spirit Game Day on February 23.

The collective efforts of Immaculate Conception School and Immaculata High School will uphold the traditions of our Church and the legacy events of our schools, creating an unforgettable experience at the Spring Luncheon on April 21st and continuing to illuminate the parochial educational opportunities here in Somerville.

Your generosity will help nurture a sense of purpose and community spirit within our schools. Let's make this Catholic Schools Week and the month of February a celebration of unity and support for Immaculate Conception School and Immaculata High School.

Please know of my sincere gratitude to you for being valued members of our Catholic school communities and true partners with us in the great work of Catholic education. I know I can rely on your help to make these important initiatives a success.

With my prayer for you and yours through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, I am,

Servus,

Msgr. Joseph G. Celano

Pastor and Director of Schools
