The Ineffable Mystery of God:
Father Barron considers St. Anselm's description of God as "that than which nothing greater can be thought," and goes on to explain St. Thomas Aquinas' arguments which support the claim that God truly exists. He also speaks from the Catholic tradition about the nature of God and the challenging question of evil and the existence of God.

WANTED! Special Needs Buddies

Whispering Winds hosts a weekend family camp experience for families who have children with special needs. This unique family camp experience takes place at the Whispering Winds campgrounds in the lovely Julian mountains.

We recruit Special Needs Buddies (SNBs) to accompany each child with special needs. SNBs are adults exclusively paired 1:1 with a child of any age with disability.

Our goal is to make each family feel assured that their child's special needs are fully met while campers enjoy a fun-loving and caring companion during all planned weekend activities.

** SNBs need no prior experience with kids with special needs as they will receive basic training from Whispering Winds staff in the care of children with developmental disabilities.

The SNB Experience Includes:
· Lodging for 3 days + 2 nights (Friday afternoon - Sunday afternoon)
· Six delicious meals, plus snacks
· Buddy Family Camp T-shirt

Weekend Service Dates:
Friday, July 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. - Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

Additional Details
· SNBs need to provide their own transportation to and from the camp site.
· All female SNBs will be lodged in one Dorm Village; all male SNBs will be in a separate lodge.
· We request that each SNB make a donation of $50 to Whispering Winds to help offset the cost of food.

ALL SNBs MUST ATTEND THE SPECIAL NEEDS TRAINING MEETING
July 16th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at St. Therese Social Center
6026 Camino Rico, San Diego, CA 92120

Visit http://whisperingwinds.org/www/?page_id=4308 for more information or to apply to be a Buddy.

corte madera hike

Saturday, May 11th
Corte Madera Mountain Hike

Join us as we hike Corte Madera Mountain in East County. In addition to fine views, the mountain's dramatic south face plays host to a number of nesting birds of prey, including falcons, hawks, and golden eagles. If we're lucky, we may spot one of these raptors soaring over the canyon below.

The hike is 7 miles round trip. We'll begin at an elevation of 3,000 feet and climb to 4,700 feet.   This considered a "moderate to strenuous hike"  depending on your condition. Join us for lunch afterwards at the Alpine Beer Company. Tripadvisor gives the restaurant 4.5 stars! And the beer is very good too. Please don't forget to bring plenty of water and sunscreen!

Itinerary:

8:00 am - Carpool from Our Mother of Confidence Church (option for those who live near the coast)
3131 Governor Drive, San Diego, 92122

9:00 am - Alpine Beer Company (carpool to trailhead and optional lunch afterwards)
1347 Tavern Road, Alpine, 91901

3:30 pm - Arrive back at Our Mother of Confidence Church
3131 Governor Drive, San Diego, 92122
