Catholics for Choice? Isn't that an oxymoron?
 That was my thought when I saw that the group "Catholics for Choice" signed the
pro-abortion ad in the Advocate that
we shared with you earlier this week. It is sad that a national group whose very identity is a contradiction would be lobbying our governor and legislators.
Along with Catholics for Choice, the other groups, including UltraViolet and Planned Parenthood, that signed the letter consistently advocate for abortion-on-demand.
You can't let their voice be louder or more effective than yours!

High Court Ruling Allows Abortion Facilities to Reopen
Just nine days after a unanimous three-judge panel of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals gave Louisiana the go-ahead to enforce the state's admitting privileges law, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed that order.
The emergency stay was granted by the 5th Circuit at the request of the state of Louisiana, which is appealing a ruling by U.S. District Court Judge John deGravelles that stuck down Louisiana's law and blocked its implementation. The Center for Reproductive Rights, which brought the lawsuit against the state on behalf of three of the state's abortion facilities and two doctors, appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to vacate the stay.
Only Justice Clarence Thomas noted a dissent from the order, suggesting that the vote had been 7-1, though justices do not always disclose their dissenting votes on such orders.
When the 5th Circuit's decision was announced, abortion facilities in Baton Rouge and Bossier City, where doctors do not have admitting privileges, stopped performing abortions. The Supreme Court ruling allowed those clinics to begin the procedures again.
Just two days before the Supreme Court reversed the order in Louisiana it heard arguments in a similar Texas case that had previously been upheld by the 5th Circuit. The decision in that case is expected to be released in June, and that decision will likely determine the fate of Louisiana's law as well.

40 Days Celebration is Saturday Morning
Historic rains have closed roads and flooded homes in North Louisiana, but the Shreveport-Bossier 40 Days for Life campaign continues. The spring campaign began Feb. 10 and runs through March 20.
The group is planning a celebration and prayer vigil on Saturday, March 19. In addition to praying for an end to abortion, the group will also pray for flood victims.
The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Bossier City Medical Suite, 1505 Doctors Drive, with prayers, comments and local speakers, including volunteer Lesley Duke. Then the group will drive across the river for a peaceful prayer vigil at the Hope Medical Group for Women, 210 Kings Highway in Shreveport.

Former Legislator Will Be Honored for Pro-Life Leadership at Capitol

The fourth annual Bowties for Babies: A Southern Soiree Benefiting Life is May 10, and it will include a special presentation to longtime pro-life leader Sharon Weston Broome, who recently left the Legislature due to term limits after a 24-year career in the House and the Senate.
While in the House she was prime sponsor of the 1995 Women's Right to Know Bill, and she authored two pro-life bills, the 2010 Ultrasound Before Abortion Act and the 2012 Hear the Heartbeat Act, as a senator. She was also a tireless advocate for Louisiana's Abortion Alternative Funding Initiative, which provides pregnancy resource centers with federal funds to help serve women and children in Louisiana, and she donated time to educating students on pro-life issues, speaking multiple times at LARTL's Camp Joshua.
The event is May 10, 2016, from 7-10 p.m. at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser and his wife, Cher, are the chair couple for the soiree that will feature live jazz music, delicious food, and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit Louisiana Right to Life's Advertise for Life project.
Sadly every day, approximately 28 Louisiana women choose abortion. The Advertise for Life project reaches these women through targeted online advertising and connects them to crisis pregnancy centers that can help them choose life. Just to give you an example, this Google image is a screenshot from a smartphone in Baton Rouge. When searching "abortion Baton Rouge" in Google, our ad (highlighted in pink) comes up first, giving women an option to click it and find a pro-life pregnancy center near them. Consider the ad a "life line" to that woman seeking abortion.
