Recently, the Zyne Foundation and the Nelson Glass Company contributed to the revitalization of the library and the overall school infrastructure! Thanks to the funding secured through the Zyne Foundation, JCCHS was able to replace the outdated, inefficient, and foggy windows in the library. A heartfelt thank you to the Zyne Foundation for making this essential improvement possible, to Nelson Glass for their collaboration and support, and to Dr. Katie King (JCCHS's Director of Creative Strategy) for her guidance of this initiative!
As former JCCHS President Jon Chalmers wrote in the most recent Carrollife Magazine, "That is what happens when we go 'all in' for John Carroll; and we are all in for John Carroll. We are all in for the return to faith and family, virtue and character. We are all in for the renewal of the John Carroll campus and the Cavalier community at large to continue its mission for decades to come."

AP SPANISH
Students in Mrs. Geurtsen's AP Spanish class have been learning about the accomplishments of the ancient Mayans.
Recently, they watched a video on how modern schools in Mexico are rejuvenating this system to preserve culture and give children an easier way of understanding math. The schools use sticks, shells and beans to give children a tactile way of understanding basic concepts. In class, Cavalier students solved some addition problems using the Mayan method!

ARCHERY ACHIEVEMENT
Congratulations to JCCHS sophomore Helen Cope for officially earning the prestigious Gold Star Pin through the USA Archery Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program! This achievement marks the highest tier in the standard progressive scoring matrix, cementing her place among the top young archers in the region.
Helen has been a member of the Hoover Parks and Recreation Archery team for 3 years. She has served as a positive role model for her teammates, especially with her support and positive attitude.
To secure the coveted Gold Pin in the Outdoor Basic Compound division, Helen had to shoot a meticulous 36-arrow round under strict conditions. She shot a 30-meter distance to a 122cm target and had to score a minimum of 310 points.
Achieving the Gold Pin is a test of extreme mental focus, endurance, and consistency. In the USA Archery system, athletes cannot skip ranks; Helen had to earn all seven prior color tiers sequentially—starting from the introductory Green pin and advancing through White, Black, Blue, Red, and Yellow—before qualifying for the ultimate Gold distinction.
