CAVALIER NEWSLETTER

November 7, 2025

At John Carroll Catholic High School, we educate young men and women in a welcoming Catholic environment that promotes academic excellence, nurtures holistic integrity, and inspires Christ-like servant leadership.

Dear Cavalier Students and Families,

This week, our school community had the privilege of honoring the men and women who have served our country during our Veterans Appreciation Assembly. Thank you to Dr. Jamie Bell (Class of '98) for her inspiring speech, and our Fine Arts Department for a wonderful performance.

As we reach the midpoint of the quarter, please encourage your student to:

  • Stay on top of assignments
  • Establish healthy study routines
  • Ask for help early when needed

Celebrations:

  • Flag Football continued its playoff run with a big win.
  • Bowling earned a big victory over Fultondale.
  • Marion Haskell earned 1st Team Honors from the AHSVCA.

Preview Day – This Sunday (11/9) 1PM–3PM

We invite you to share our mission. Please think of one family who could benefit from what John Carroll provides and personally invite them to join us on Sunday. Your voice and witness make the biggest impact. Additionally, we hope you'll join us immediately following Cavalier Preview Day for the Fall Choir Concert! The choral students have been working very hard under Mrs. Wilson's direction and they have a great performance planned!

Finally, keep the boys and girls cross country teams in your thoughts and prayers as they compete in the AHSAA State Meet tomorrow! Qualifying both teams for the State Meet is a great accomplishment! Thank you to Dr. King and her team of coaches for all their hardwork to get the runners to this point in the season! We know they will represent John Carroll in a first-class manner.

Thank you for your continued partnership in forming young people of faith, virtue, and purpose.

God Bless & Go Cavs!

JCCHS SPIRITUAL LIFE COMMITTEE:

Altar of Remembrance

The Catholic Church dedicates the month of November to all Holy Souls in Purgatory. The Church celebrates the deceased and remembers all of those awaiting entry into heaven. So that our student body, faculty, staff, and parents can pray for the dead, the Spiritual Life Committee encourages students to bring pictures of loved ones to the altar of the John Carroll Chapel to commemorate our faithful departed and offer prayers. If you would like to participate, please feel free to bring a picture of a family member or friend and place it in the Chapel Sanctuary.

The Old Testament tells us that “it is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins” (2 Macc. 12:46). This verse points to the existence of purgatory, where those who have died suffer in a mystical way and are prepared for heaven. Catholic speaker Chris Stefanick mentions that all of those in purgatory will be saved, as the only direction from purgatory is UP!
