*Concierge Tour*

Hear Ye! HEAR YE!!!
Cave Creek Merchants...
This One's for YOU!
By Nina Spitzer

On March 29th, members of the Valley concierge and tourism community from hotels and resorts all over The Valley will step onto a 24-passenger bus in Cave Creek and tour our beloved town. This Concierge Tour is a Town of Cave Creek free promotional event for our local businesses. As the Cave Creek Tourism Bureau coordinator, I'll be organizing and leading this event.

From 1pm-7pm, our concierge guests will be treated like royalty as the tour bus meanders through the Cave Creek town core. Tourism bureau hostesses will fill their ears with information on our town's unique shops, art galleries, restaurants, and all the rest of the wonderful things that make Cave Creek - CAVE CREEK. At some of our local multi-shop locations, the bus will stop and let our guests enjoy a brief walkabout, a closer look at the shops, some “tastes” of local restaurants, and stretch their legs, as well.

As the bus rolls through town, they will also learn of Cave Creek's past and how it came to be the town it is today. Of course, a stop at our Cave Creek Museum and mention of Local Landmarks Program will be included.

Friends and lovers alike are frequently won-over through their tummies, and so our guests will be invited to partake in delightful "tastes" from local shops and restaurants at various stops along the way. A complimentary dinner will be served at the end of the tour.

We wouldn't think of sending our guests home empty handed...and, this is where YOU and your establishment get to shine! We invite you to take part in this marketing event by being included in the Swag Bag marketing opportunity. At no charge, you can include a small “swag” gift indicative of your business along with your brochure. I'm impressed at how many local businesses have already asked to be included on the Swag Bag list. Swag items need not be expensive, just something that will best help our guests remember your business. Contact me if you're stuck on ideas. You certainly want to take advantage of the opportunity to have your business included and promoted in this way.

At the end of the day, our concierge guests will return home with good memories and positive vibes, but also a bagful of cool items inspiring them to return to Cave Creek. Most of all, this concierge tour of Cave Creek will motivate them to promote our town through their contacts with out-of-own guests. When future hotel guests step up to the concierge desk asking where to go for a fun day-trip, of course their immediate reply will be..."CAVE CREEK!"
Let's get rolling on making this the premier Cave Creek marketing event of the year. Contact me with your questions and especially to be included on the list of local businesses seeking promotion via the event Swag Bag.

Cave Creek Merchants, We love you!
"A fabulous way to spend a day? CAVE CREEK, of course!!!"
Town Manager's Corner
Dear Cave Creek Merchants,

As the Town continues to promote Cave Creek across the Valley, our Cave Creek Tourism Bureau is hosting a concierge bus tour highlighting features which make Cave Creek a unique and exciting destination for dining, day trips and weekend getaways. On March 29th, a 24-passenger bus will tour members of the Arizona Chapter of the National Concierge Association through the Town Core to cover historical highlights and describe features of the town which make this a must-see destination. The purpose of this tour is to familiarize nearby concierge and tourism professionals with activities and features of Cave Creek so as to encourage business for our local merchant community.

This group will be provided with a bundle of promotional materials from you: our Town’s merchants. On the tour, the Tourism Bureau hostesses and Town Staff will describe our wonderful shops, restaurants, landmarks, and features of the town. The tour ends with a complimentary dinner at Harold’s Cave Creek Corral for our tour guests.

Businesses are encouraged to participate by providing promotional materials which will be shared with each of the tour guests. Contact Nina at Coordinator@VisitCCAZ.org or 602-622-7461 to be included in this free promotional event.

The Marshal's Corner
Greetings From the Marshal,
The holidays have come and gone and we are seeing increased traffic in our town. More people are walking through town and most businesses I’ve spoken to say that sales are great. As traffic increases throughout town and more and more great weather abounds, we are once again reminded how wonderful life is in Cave Creek.

We have a parade scheduled on 19 March for the annual Cave Creek Rodeo. Merchants, here’s an opportunity to plan ahead for the influx of visitors. For those of you who have been here a while, you know to expect increased pedestrians as well as increased traffic. We will do our best to expedite traffic. We will be utilizing an abundance of deputies who may not be from our Cave Creek District IV. Please be patient if you speak to a deputy who may not be as familiar with Cave Creek as our local deputies.

Once again, I must mention how happy I am with our new fire department. I have responded to a few incidents with the new fire department and I am impressed with the fire fighters.

Stay safe and Happy New Year!

Cave Creek Accepted into Regional Automatic Aid System

On January 7th, 2022, notice was given to the Town of Cave Creek and the Daisy Mountain Fire District (DMFD) that Cave Creek has been officially accepted into the Regional Automatic Aid Response System, by vote from the members of the Central Arizona Life Safety Council (CALSC).

Cave Creek’s new fire station provides 24/7/365-day coverage with an “all hazard” response unit, consisting of a Class A fire engine which is staffed with 4 DMFD personnel— 2 of which are Advanced Life Support (ALS) medics.

As a member of the Regional Automatic Aid Response System, the request and dispatch for emergency response is coordinated through the Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center, which will automatically identify the type of emergency incident and immediately send the closest appropriate resources. In addition, this system now has the ability to seamlessly provide a significant amount of additional emergency fire and medical units if a unique or very large incident were to occur in this community.

The Valley’s Regional Automatic Aid Response System is unique and often recognized as one of the most effective emergency resource response systems in the country. This community will be served from the Cave Creek Fire Station #1 / DMFD Station #147 at 37402 N. Cave Creek Rd.

For questions and comments please address the Town of Cave Creek’s Director of Community Risk Reduction, Jim Ford at: 480-437-3583 or Town Hall.

Firefighters, residents, business owners, and representatives of local community organizations were in attendance for the open house to explore the building and new equipment. "This is the culmination of over a year’s efforts to evaluate and improve the services for the town’s residents and business owners. We are happy to have come to an agreement with Daisy Mountain Fire District to provide these services for the community," remarked Jim Ford, new Director of Community Risk Reduction for the Town Cave Creek.

Looking Up!
On Saturday, February 19th, many of us will be “Looking up!” in awe as we sit in the Spur Cross Recreation Area parking lot. We will, once again, be enjoying a Cave Creek Dark Sky Initiative (CCDSI) “Star Gazing Party.” Astronomy expert and NASA Ambassador, Mark Johnston, will transfer his deep space telescope images, in real time, onto large monitor screens for all of us to see. You are invited to join in at this wonderful event!
Deep space objects targeted for this show are Orion Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, Rosette Nebula, California Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, The Pleiades, Soul Nebula, Bode and Cigar galaxies, and various star clusters. Mark will aim his laser pointer into the night sky highlighting these space phenomena like an outdoor planetarium.
The first star gazing event of this type was held by CCDSI at the same location in Cave Creek on November 7th. The technology, views, and information shared were amazing. The event was extremely well-attended and received acclaims by all. Many requests for a repeat performance brings us this second star gazing event on February 19th. Cave Creek Dark Sky Initiative has, once again, invited us to attend.
The Star Gazing Party runs from 7:00-8:30PM, however, the CCDSI team is asking that we arrive before 6:30pm to avoid car-lights disrupting the dark night. Do bring folding chairs and lots of warm clothing. A flask of hot cocoa might be a good idea too. The nighttime desert temperatures can be bone chilling. Please note, as well, that restrooms and sinks will be available at the event!
Bruce Arlen, of CCDSI, asks that everyone please RSVP (info below) so an accurate head count can be made. If you missed the first event, you certainly want to sign on for this one. If you were in attendance at the November event, surely, you’ll enjoy experiencing it again.

Foothills Food Bank Corner
Serving Smiles
Serving Smiles - Essentially, that’s what our Foothills Food Bank does. According to the food bank’s Executive Director Leigh Zydonik, they help bridge the gap during the rough times in people’s lives. At the food bank, those who visit aren’t called “clients,” they’re called “neighbors” because, that’s who they are! The Foothills Food Bank is there helping neighbors and doing a darned good job of it, at that.
“Whether it is by receiving a box of food, assistance in paying a bill, or gifts at the holidays, helping our neighbors get through the tough times by taking one stressor off their plate, can make all the difference in the world,” says Leigh Zydonik.
The demographics of Foothills Foodbank Neighbors is varied from singles to families of six or more. Ages of visiting neighbors also vary with the bulk of visitors being 31-years of age and older. Some visit only once, during a rough period, while others may visit monthly to span a gap in personal circumstance. (Click HERE to see pie chart.)
The food bank reaches out to ease family burdens with food, financial assistance and gifts for kids. This community sharing effort is yearlong, but never busier than during the holidays. This past holiday season, the food banks shared with over 1200 individuals through both their Adopt-a-Family and Holiday Meals programs. This included turkeys for Thanksgiving, hams for Christmas, as well as books, toys, and gift cards. This neighborly reach goes out to those who live in their service area, but they will never turn anyone away.
The Foothills Food Bank is a helping, rewarding experience for not just neighbors, but volunteers, as well. “It has been a privilege to help brighten the holidays for our client families by recruiting sponsors and donors and providing gift cards, games and toys to families in need,“ says Linda McCabe who has volunteered with various food banks in multiple capacities since she was 13-years old.
To really understand the impact our Foothills Food Bank has in our community, it’s best to hear it directly from one of our neighbors.
“Thank you so much! I can’t even begin to describe the relief I feel tonight. One major component of the sleepless nights filled with thoughts of bills, maxed out credit cards and a huge mountain to climb - is food. Tonight, I don’t have to stress about feeding our 4 year-old daughter. The fridge was pretty bare and the emergency cans of beans and rice were almost gone. Payday isn’t coming for too many days. I was growing weary. This is my first time in my life asking for help… as a proud, independent woman it was an extremely humbling experience. On my drive home, relief, hope and the opportunity to keep moving forward filled me. As the tears flowed, I thanked God (and your team) for allowing me to breathe. Thank you,” says a new neighbor having recently moved from out of state.
YES-That certainly says it all!
Daily, Foothills Food Bank continues to serve smiles to those who walk in. Thank you, Foothills Food Bank. We are honored to have you as part of our Cave Creek community.
