Ceasefire in Gaza:

Ahli Hospital Needs You Now

My dear Siblings in Christ,

We must give thanks for the ceasefire in Gaza, for the release of the hostages, for the renewal of food aid, and the glimmer of hope for peace. It is just the very beginning of a long, long road to recovery and the hope for lasting peace. As Episcopalians, I call upon us to support the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem at this critical time. Please consider making a special gift today to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Our prayers are certainly needed coupled with our active support for the innocent displaced by this brutal war.

Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

As you likely know, a fragile ceasefire in Gaza was announced last week. For Al Ahli Arab Hospital, this brings both relief and urgency. After two years of unrelenting violence, Ahli’s staff are exhausted, supplies are depleted, and the hospital’s infrastructure has sustained heavy damage. You can read the latest update and hear directly from Dr. Maher Ayyad in a short video on AFEDJ's website, where he shares how Ahli’s team continues to care for patients under extraordinary strain.

Now, for the first time in months, supplies might reach Gaza, and every moment counts. Without immediate support, Ahli cannot begin to replace what’s been lost or continue to care for the hundreds arriving at its doors each day.

This is the moment to be a friend for hope. Your gift to AFEDJ directly strengthens the Diocese of Jerusalem’s humanitarian response: keeping operating rooms lit, restoring damaged equipment, and giving staff what they need to continue saving lives. Every donation acts as a lifeline for patients and families who have been cut off from help for far too long.

The need is immense, but so is the courage of those who serve. In the face of destruction, the Diocese’s institutions remain steadfast in treating the wounded, sheltering displaced families, and caring for all who come to them for healing, regardless of faith, background, or ability to pay.

Every gift helps these institutions do what they've always done: show up and save lives. Right now, someone is walking through Ahli's doors in desperate need of help. Will the lights be on? Will there be medicine? Will exhausted staff have what they need to say yes?

The answer to those questions starts here, today, with your gift.

Please give now to sustain Al Ahli Arab Hospital and the Diocese of Jerusalem’s humanitarian mission across the Holy Land.

With gratitude for your compassion and generosity,
