New Artist in the Gallery
Susan Mahlstedt
Susan Mahlstedt has always been interested in both nature and architecture, and particularly in how they work together. Early on, her work was influenced more by architecture, but now has shifted towards nature, with its unlimited forms and grace. This change was influenced by her move several years ago from a downtown loft to a house bordering a woodlands area.
Solving technical challenges to create the look and vision she wants keeps Susan constantly intrigued. She enjoys fabricating with metals, and uses several techniques, including hand saw piercing, roller embossing, hammer texturing, and surface drilling. Often, the interior of the piece is layered to create dimension and contrast in metal color and finishes.
We are happy to have a selection of Susan's gorgeous jewelry available in the gallery and in our online store. Click on the pictures to find out more about these pieces.
Just in the Door...
When it comes to sprucing up your home, something as effortless as adding a lamp can give your room a brand new feel.
We've recently received a new selection of handcrafted lamps from Sekoya Originals that will add warmth and character to any room! These lamps feature unique metal work, natural slate, hammered brass accents, and are topped with a shade of beautiful hand-made paper and a brass leaf finial.
Ready to spruce up your kitchen decor? If you're looking for something new to add to your culinary collection, cutting boards are a great choice. We have a vast selection of cutting boards now in stock. If you're looking for something a little different, we also have bread boards, sushi boards, wooden salad bowls, and dough bowls.

Meet Our Staff:
Kelly Mauldin
Prior to joining the Cedar Creek team, Kelly had never worked in retail (unless you count a high school stint as a soda jerk at the lunch counter of an Eckerd Drug Store in Charlotte). After a career as a communications professional, she was looking for a “hobby job” and decided to drop by Cedar Creek for a vibe check after seeing an ad for part-time help. She was delighted to find that it felt even better than she remembered and has been happily ensconced there for almost five years.
Kelly enjoys the company of her coworkers and chatting with the customers and artists she encounters at the gallery. When not at work, she takes pleasure in reading, gardening, beating Droid at Scrabble, and doing various artsy-craftsy projects. Her latest undertaking is learning to upholster cushions for her favorite room in the house – the screened in porch where she likes to watch her two crazy cats watch the birds at the feeders outside. Kelly lives in the Wake Forest area and has two grown daughters, both of whom live in the Triangle. She is looking forward to celebrating the first birthday of her first grandchild later this month!

For the past eleven years the world of craft has joined together for ten days in October to celebrate American craft during American Craft Week .
American Craft Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate the wonders of American craft and support the artists who create it. Day after day thousands of American artists share their vision and talent by producing amazing hand-made decorative and functional objects.
American craft enriches our homes, wardrobes, offices and public spaces. It contributes to our nation's economy, our balance of trade, and the fabric of our national history. It is original, beautiful and enduring.
Please support your local galleries, artists, and museums by purchasing American craft October 2-11!
WRAL Voters' Choice Awards

  • Under Business: Gifts and Jewelry categories
  • Under Community: Museums and Galleries category

The top five finalists in every category will go on to the voting phase beginning October 19.
Feel like shopping from home, but still want to support your local businesses, artists, and craftspeople?
We are constantly expanding our selection online! Visit our online store to shop a great selection of handcrafted gifts, or pick something for yourself!
Whether you're trying to socially distance, completely stay at home, or are just too busy to drop by...
Cedar Creek Gallery is your gift shopping alternative where you can find one-of-a-kind, handcrafted gifts that are as unique and special as the people you're giving them to.
We'll ship, or you can choose to pick up your purchases at the gallery.

We realize it's hard to justify shipping costs if you live nearby. If you happen to live on the way home (or close to) one of our staff members, we'll drop your purchase off and refund your shipping charges!
If you live in the Raleigh or Wake Forest area, send an email to les@cedarcreekgallery.com to see if we can deliver your purchases!

Here are a few of the categories you'll find at shopcedarcreekgallery.com
Due to limitations on social distancing,
we have decided to forego this year's
Fall Pottery and Glass Festival.
Even though we aren't having food trucks and craft demonstrations, the garden is beautiful and the gallery continues to be open
from 10am - 6pm seven days a week.
We're keeping it small and safe, adding new items every day, and will continue to keep the gallery fully stocked with craft from all your favorite artists!
