Spring Break Fun

Need some activities to keep your kids busy and engaged over spring break? Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation has lots of options.

Look for the Rollin' Recmobiles, loaded with fun, at your neighborhood parks March 13 through 16. Find the schedules at CityofCR.com/CRRecmobile.

Swim at Bender Pool on Tuesday, March 14 and Thursday, March 16 from 1 to 4 p.m., and Friday, March 17 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5.75 or a pass.

Drop by the Northwest Recreation Center, 1340 11th Street NW, for billiards, foosball, table tennis, or open gym. The schedule is available at CRYouthSports.com.

Spring is just around the corner!

Looking for a Job? We're Hiring!

Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation is now hiring for spring, summer, and fall seasonal jobs. Hundreds of opportunities are available in Aquatics, Golf, Parks, and Recreation. Jobs are posted online at CityofCR.com/Jobs.

The City is holding two job fairs and a "jobs" open house in the upcoming weeks for anyone who would like assistance with their application. Those attending the job fairs may also interview on-site. Here are the dates and locations:

February 28 | 10 AM-1 PM | Vets Memorial Coliseum, 50 2nd Avenue Bridge
March 8 | 9 AM-12 PM | Ellis Golf Course Clubhouse, 1401 Zika Avenue NW

Paddles in the Pool Clinic

Learn and practice the basics of kayaking in the warm and controlled environment of Bender Pool on Sunday, March 26 from 12-3 p.m. All equipment is provided. Bring swimwear and wear it in the pool. Experienced paddlers will share their skill and enthusiasm with beginners and those who wish to improve their own abilities. Safety tips, rescue techniques, paddling skills, paddling games, and entering and exiting the water will be covered.

The clinic is for ages 10 and up - youth must be supervised. Space is limited; advance registration is required. The fee is $10 per person.

Spring Ball Diamond Rentals Available

Need a diamond for your team’s spring ball practice? Spring diamond rentals at Cleveland and Van Vechten Parks are available. The City diamond spring rental season for teams runs from April 3 to June 9, 2023. Fees are $25 per unchalked diamond or $35 per chalked diamond.
