Students: Register for PLI!

Hi Benjamin,

Together with two of my daughters and my wife, I visited the Statue of Liberty recently, a truly inspiring reminder of the blessing of freedom we share in America. Our Pledge of Allegiance compels us that our nation should protect liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all, including those of us waiting to be born. America is certainly not perfect, but the overturn of Roe v. Wade is a reminder that we can correct injustice through the democratic process, something that can't be said by some other nations.

While the visit was powerful, I was disappointed that the welcome video in the museum on Liberty Island neglected to mention or show clips of the pro-life efforts to protect babies as it alluded to many other political movements in our nation's history, including some that we see today. I was disappointed by this, and reminded how much work we have to educate the hearts and minds of our nation for life.

The Declaration of Independence guarantees the right to life for every American. I look forward to the day when our federal government enshrines in law that every unborn baby deserves that fundamental human right.

This 4th of July, as we prepare to celebrate our freedoms as Americans, it is important we remember our new protections of babies in Louisiana! Since the reversal of Roe, over 7,000 unborn children have been protected from abortion. This was recently highlighted in the state's paper, on the front page! While many of our team members were at the National Right to Life Convention in Pittsburg our pro-life work was being featured in Louisiana!

“The pro-life movement has always been pro-mom and pro-baby, and that mission is more important than ever,” said Sarah Zagorski, a spokesperson for Louisiana Right to Life, the state’s powerful anti-abortion lobby.

In the coming months, we will be working to ensure that every woman knows about the help near her both before and after birth through our resource FindHelpLa.com. While Louisiana has allocated more resources than ever to helping moms, we hope our elected officials will expand even more resources in the future. 

In one weeks, we will host PULSE Leadership Institute (PLI) to help train the next generation in pro-life apologetics and compassionate ways to reach young people for life! Some of our speakers include abortion survivor Melissa Ohden, Bobby Schindler from the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Network, and local OBGYN Dr. John Voltz. 

At PLI, students also learn about the important work of Pregnancy Resource Centers, Adoption Agencies and Abortion Recovery Organizations.

For nearly 50 years, the Supreme Court forced Louisiana to allow legal abortion. The result? Over 530,000 Louisiana unborn children were killed by abortion since 1973. Thousands of women were hurt by what was supposed to be a simple “choice.”

The Advocate published a story last week illustrating a Louisiana mother’s decision to abort their baby who was diagnosed with anencephaly. The article describes how the family received the diagnosis at their 16 week check up.

We recently published our Summer Edition of The Luminary: a newspaper for pro-life Louisianians.
