Celebrate 20 Years of Public Art at its Finest with Krasl Art Center!
AUGUST 3, 2022. ST. JOSEPH, MICH. – Krasl Art Center (KAC) invites the public to join in a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the monumental sculpture ‘And You, Seas,’ by Richard Hunt on August 23 from 5 to sunset. The celebration takes place on the twentieth anniversary of the dedication ceremony that honored this beacon to Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. Artmaking, poetry, a live steel drum performance, boat rides, refreshments, and one very special announcement will take place at the Shadowland Pavilion at Silver Beach County Park. Mr. Hunt will partake in the festivities and several guest speakers will share the stories behind this magnificent artwork.

Rising from the south pier of Silver Beach County Park, ‘And You, Seas’ stands nearly 50’ tall. Made of stainless steel, it has endured the wind, waves, and lake spray with brilliance and timelessness. Twenty years later, ‘And You, Seas’ continues to serve as a beacon to the Twin Cities, greeting guests by land and water to our beautiful community. It is public art at its finest.

This celebration is co-hosted by Krasl Art Center and Berrien County Parks and is free & open to the public. Free parking will be available onsite.

  • Poems must describe or be inspired by Richard Hunt’s ‘And You, Seas.’
  • Email your name, age, and poem in Word document format to nmargoni@krasl.org.
  • All ages and poetry styles are accepted and encouraged!
Awards: All submissions will be printed in a booklet at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Richard Hunt’s ‘And You, Seas.’ A small selection of poems will be read aloud during the event.
