πŸŽ‰ Celebrating 50 Years of MCC!πŸŽ‰

"Being a part of The Center is a gift I never take for granted. I am grateful to know each of you and to work alongside you. It is the work we do together β€” and the connections we’ve built and continue to build β€” that have allowed The Center to become the beacon of hope it is today."

Tarah Pappas, Executive Director

The Mary Campbell Center celebrated 50 years of Celebrating ABILITIES on May 23, 2026. We started celebrating a little early with a 50th Anniversary Kickoff Event on May 7, where we welcomed MCC Residents and their families, local legislators, and many long-time friends of The Center.

Our sincerest thanks to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone. Kevin Reilly β€” thank you for emceeing with such energy and heart. Senator Dan Cruce β€” thank you for your thoughtful reflection and steadfast support. Coach Dick Vermeil β€” thank you for your continued partnership and your genuine message of congratulations. Marcus Henry β€” thank you for your involvement with The Center, your belief in our mission, and your warm congratulatory message.

To our families β€” thank you for trusting us with the care of your loved ones. This responsibility is one none of us take for granted. To the Residents of MCC β€” it is a joy to see you grow and reach new goals every day.

To our Board of Directors β€” we are deeply grateful for your leadership, guidance, and commitment.

Celebrating 50 years of MCC would not have been the same without all who attended β€” the people who make The Center so special. We would also like to thank every MCC staff member. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed; thank you for all you do each and every day to support our mission.

The Mary Campbell Center's mission thrives because of the steadfast commitment of those who came before us, those who stand with us now, and those who will carry this work forward.

Getting In Touch with Our Inner Yogi

Residents participated in a variety of good for the soul activities in the month of May.

We kicked things off with chair adapted yoga led by our Lead Activities Specialist, Hilary, and our new Volunteer Coordinator, Jade. Residents found their zen and stretched peacefully as they focused on their breath.

Yoga was followed by a visit from Music Man Joe! What better way to get in gear for a Music Man Joe jam session than a little yoga to get you feeling loose? Residents danced and sang along to their favorite songs as Joe led the way strumming his guitar strings.

While some chose musical expression, others chose artistic; there's never a shortage of activities to choose from here at MCC! A small group of Residents worked with MCC’s volunteer artist, Joe, on vibrant acrylic paintings. No, that’s not a typo, both men who volunteer their artistic talents at MCC are in fact both named Joe!

Pour Your Heart and Soul into It

Pouring your heart and soul into something can sound intimidating, but it’s easy to do when you’re pour-painting with MCC Resident, Kate.

Thank you to, Kate, one of many creative MCC Residents, for leading fellow Residents, staff, and volunteers in a pour-paint class on Thursday, May 28.

This unique art form is accessible to all and allows one’s artistic expression to run wild on the canvas. Residents were mesmerized as their color selections were spilled on to large and small canvases to then blend and separate in a variety of directions. This practice yields one-of-a-kind designs that can be further augmented by the artist using instruments like blow dryers, toothpicks, spinning mechanisms, and much more.

Seeing the MCC community working together to celebrate art and its healing effects was a truly moving experience, and we look forward to more events that bring us together to celebrate the ABILITIES within us all.

ο»ΏThank you to all staff and volunteers for a wonderful afternoon.

The Beautiful Brave Butterfly: An Update

In our January 2026 edition of MCC Monthly Matters, we highlighted Resident author, Allison Brennan. It was in January 2026 that Brennan published her first children's book, The Beautiful Brave Butterfly.

The book, written and illustrated by Brennan, became an instant hit in the MCC community making the next step obvious, it was time to take the book on tour!

On Friday, May 29, Ally officially introduced her inspiring tale to the public as she hosted a reading for nine second grade classrooms at Concord Elementary School in Glen Mills, PA. Nine classrooms! That's roughly 180 students! Way to go, Ally!

Ally received a standing ovation as well as fan mail that included a picture of butterflies that had been colored by the students. Future tour dates and details to come. Stay tuned!

MCC Celebrates!

The month of May was filled with reasons to celebrate.

Every May, the nation recognizes National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, National Nurses Week, and National Teacher Appreciation Week. And this year, as you know, The Mary Campbell Center celebrates 50 years of Discovering, Growing, and Celebrating ABILITIES.

We could not be prouder to share this anniversary month with the many professionals who have dedicated themselves to the MCC mission.

To our nurses, speech therapists, and educators, please know that we celebrate you every day and that The Center wouldn't be what it is today without you. Thank you for all you do.
