2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID), a time to celebrate our collective accomplishments, engage with NFID stakeholders and the leaders who have helped advance the field of infectious diseases, while building momentum for the future.
As we recognize 50 years of education, prevention, and impact, we are excited to announce the launch of a new, more user-friendly NFID website at: www.nfid.org. The sleek new design features streamlined navigation and updated tools and resources to help stakeholders educate and engage with others on topics related to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases across the lifespan. Some of the new resources include videos on the importance of Vaccines for Life, fact sheets on monoclonal antibodies in both English and Spanish, and the latest edition of the Schaffner Report, featuring NFID Medical Director William Schaffner, MD, sharing insights on new respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccines for older adults.
Looking ahead to the 2023-2024 US respiratory season, NFID resources will be critical for coordinated messaging related to influenza (flu), COVID-19, RSV, and pneumococcal disease with NFID partners, as we work together to help build vaccine confidence—themes clearly underscored during the recent NFID webinar on Addressing Adult Vaccine Hesitancy in the US. Throughout the upcoming respiratory season, NFID aims to raise awareness about the importance of disease prevention, with the ultimate goal of increasing immunization rates and decreasing the burden of disease for individuals of all ages.
We hope you will join us in Washington, DC for Flu Awareness Night on September 8, 2023, as the Washington Nationals take on the LA Dodgers and NFID is recognized as nonprofit of the night. A portion of each ticket sold through the dedicated link will be donated to support the important work of NFID.
As we build momentum for the next 50 years, we hope that we can count on your continued support as we work together to achieve a shared vision of healthier lives for all through the effective prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. On behalf of NFID, thank you.
