FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Science Central celebrates Apollo 50th anniversary
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (July 11, 2019) - Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with Science Central this month!

With support from Indiana Space Grant Consortium and Indiana Humanities, Science Central is featuring a commemorative photo display that allows visitors to re-experience key milestones of the historic mission before inviting them to share their own memories from the era. Sets of our Apollo photos are also on display in the History Center and Hop River Brewing Co. Later this year, more photos will be featured on the campus of the University of Saint Francis.

Throughout the day on July 20th, the day Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon's surface, Purdue University Fort Wayne Associate Professor of History David Schuster will be giving talks. This program has been made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities, in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities.

In addition, Science Central visitors will be treated to special programming in the AEP Foundation Science on a Sphere Theater on July 20th and throughout the month to mark the occasion. These demonstrations will include images of the Saturn V rocket's liftoff, historic video footage of the landing, and Sphere datasets showing the precise location where the Eagle touched down.

The Apollo 11 photographs and memory wall are included with admission. Admission is $10 for ages 3 and up, and free for ages 2 and under.  Science Central Members also get in free.
Thanks!

Sincerely,
