September Highlights

Square Dance Was a Swingin' Success

A huge thank you to all who came out for our September 6th Square Dance Night! This is an ongoing series brought to you through a community driven partnership between Fairfax Recreation and community members, Laura Mans and Brianna Hathaway. We love it when a good partnership can blossom. Look out for more events like these throughout the year or contact Anne Mannes who spearheads this effort.

19th Annual Town Picnic This Weekend

Saturday, September 13 | 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Contratti Ballfield 


This free community event features live music by the Tom Finch Group, a bounce house, arts & crafts, baked goods, food, beer, and more available for purchase. 

Family entertainment includes a Magic Show (1:30 PM), Reptile Show (3:00 PM), and balloon twisting fun throughout the afternoon. 



Come celebrate with neighbors and friends—it’s a Fairfax tradition!

Looking for connection, support, and a space to just be during early parenthood? 


Join experienced professional therapist Ali Vogt, LMFT, for a welcoming, therapist-led group that supports you through pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting little ones up to age 3.

 

We talk about it all—birth recovery, identity shifts, sleep, relationships, finding balance, and more. Share, listen, or simply soak it in—this is a judgment-free, baby-friendly space. 


Come as you are – with or without your baby. Feeding, changing, fussing, and toddler chatter are all welcome. Pregnant folks welcome!

Ballfax Recreation Club – NEW membership option!   


Join Coach Blu for a NEW membership club option that allows for more flexibility and cost savings. 


This monthly offering resumes on October 22, 2025 and runs until May 27, 2026 at the Pavilion, including both team and small group training sessions, school breaks, and special clinics.   

Monthly and drop in options available. Membership suggested.

Fairfax Art Walk  

Friday, September 26 | 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Downtown Fairfax 


As part of the collaborative Artist-in-Residence Program and brainchild of local photographer Stephanie Mohan with support from the Parks and Recreation Department and the downtown business community, the Annual Fairfax Art Walk is celebrating their 6th annual event.   



This popular local event was developed to foster an appreciation for the power of the arts and to enrich our community.   



Come spend an evening strolling downtown Fairfax as all our shopkeepers turn out and bring you a festive night of art and community.

Fairfax Theater Company presents... 

The Koh-I-Noor Diamond, A Trial

(A Young King, Two Queens, and a Royal Crime)

October 3 – 18 | Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 3:30 p.m.

The play, penned by FTC’s Director, Sam Parry, presents a fictional trail based on expert testimony and a call to witnesses, including Queen Victoria herself.   

Don’t miss this riveting courtroom drama, wherein the audience will represent the jury and be tasked to reach a verdict:   


“Should the gem be returned? Or was it a gift as alleged?”  


Admission is free and Donations welcomed. Come out to see free local theatre by our very own Fairfax Theatre Company.

Downtown Halloween Parade  

October 31 | Downtown Fairfax  


Parade Route begins at Fairfax Theater, 4:30 p.m. Meetup 


Thanks to our partnership with the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, we bring Halloween fun each year with our annual parade downtown that ends at the Bolinas Park grove. 


Bring your little ones and big ones too as we parade and “trick or treat” while the shopkeepers pass out candy.

Fairfax Holiday Craft Faire  

Sunday, December 14 | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Fairfax Pavilion  


We are gearing up for another great holiday event full of local crafts, music, treats and holiday wreathmaking brought to you by Fairfax Recreation and Community Services Department. 


This free event always draws a festive crowd rain or shine and brings community together around supporting local makers and artisans while getting the holiday shopping done!

Age Friendly Fairfax

Ross Valley Senior Luncheon  

Thursday, October 2 | 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Women’s Club 


Join the Ross Valley Seniors every first Thursday of the month for a day filled with socializing, learning, and fun activities.  



Meet new people, enjoy meals together, and play games like bocce ball and board/card games.  

First-time guests are always welcome to attend a meeting for an $8 drop-in fee, or you can become a member for only $40 per year, which includes 12 meetings.

Fairfax Celebrates Our 90+ Citizens - Home Deliveries on October 18 

Led by community members from Age Friendly Fairfax, the Town of Fairfax annually honors our nonagenarian Fairfax community members with gift bags, home delivered to our residents.   


Confirmation letters will be sent out to these residents to confirm who would like a gift bag this year.
