Let's celebrate the Creole culture of Southwest Louisiana on Saturday, February 11th from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. at the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective, located in the Arnaudville-Deux Bayous Cultural District.
This Saturday at La Table des Traditions Creoles, we will celebrate Black History Month which will feature a captivating dive into the life and times of Creole Music Legend Amedeé Ardoin.
The event runs concurrently with both Esprit Kreyol and Le Deuxième.
Host and Creole Historian, Patricia Cravins
will perform a theatrical monologue based on the research of Dr. Darrell Bourque and contributions from the Ardoin Family.
This open conversation will include live storytelling and accordion demonstrations by the Ardoin Family.
The event is co-hosted by Gabrielle Deculus of the New Orleans Zydeco Foundation and Festival.
Who is Amedeé Ardoin?
Amedeé Ardoin is credited by Louisiana music scholars with laying the groundwork for both Creole and Cajun music in the early 20th century and wrote several songs now regarded as Cajun and Zydeco.
Come early and watch the Mask Making Martinique Style workshop featuring the artistry of Jean-Luc Toussaint and Vanessa Guy.
Stay late and attend La Table Kreyol with Herbert Wiltz of C.R.E.O.L.E. INC.
Enjoy complimentary food and beverages and if you would like something more substantial, Ms. Jo of NUNU's Creole Traditions will be set up selling food too.
