CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February is Black History Month and the Library is celebrating the rich contributions of African Americans to our community and collective history. Our RCPL CARES and IDEAL RWC teams are proud to present the following events:


Kid Makers: Embracing Diversity and Unity

A PLACE FOR ALL PEOPLE

Redwood City Public Library and Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services are honored to present, A PLACE FOR ALL PEOPLE, a Smithsonian Traveling Poster Exhibit that transports us to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The commemorative exhibit highlights key artifacts that tell the rich and diverse story of the African American Experience – a living history that reflects challenge, triumph, faith and hope.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

Kingdom Love, LLC presents Mental Health First Aid for adults supporting adults. Join us for a free skill-based training in which participants will gain insight into mental health and substance use challenges in people. As a First-Aider, you will identify signs and reach out to provide initial first-aid support.

This course is valued at $170. Thanks to the Mental Health Services Act funding (Proposition 65) and a partnership between Kingdom Love, LLC and San Mateo County BHRS ODE approved registrants may attend at no charge. 

LUNAR NEW YEAR AT THE LIBRARY

The Year of the Dragon is almost upon us! Ring in Lunar New Year with books, crafts, and more festive fun at one of the following programs.

Mardi Gras for Kids

On February 17, join muralist Rachel Wolfe-Goldsmith and workshop facilitator/comedian Langstyn Avery. We’ll meet at the Downtown Library and enjoy a guided walking tour of the Redwood City Racial Equity mural. Then, we’ll return to the library’s Makerspace to make art that activates our revolutionary spirit!
