K E N S I N G T O N

Dear beloved friends,

Tomorrow evening, we begin the celebration of Jesus' birth, the inbreaking of Emmanuel, God-with-us. Cause for angels - and all of us - to sing and dance, to give thanks in the silence of our hearts, and in the joy and holy chaos of community! (well just a bit of holy chaos at the 5 pm.)

There's much in this world of ours that diminishes and destroys body and soul.

I hope you’ll join us in the candlelight to rejoice and remember the power of that great light that shines in the darkness, and is not overcome. If you cannot come in person, light candles at home and join us online!

And if you are traveling or ill, know that we hold you in our hearts, and will see you when you return.

Christmas blessings, love and peace,

Emily

Tent City Nativity. An Icon by artist Kelly Latimore

God became flesh and dwelt among us.

Luke's nativity story tells of the humble and vulnerable birth of Jesus in Bethlehem under Roman occupation in 1st century Palestine. Artist Kelly Latimore invites us, as artists throughout the centuries have done, to see the Holy Family in our time. Where would the Christ child be born today? May all children be held especially close this Christmas, particularly those who live in the midst of war, under threat of violence or deportation, those hungry and unhoused. May they know the love of God in Christ, and the love and support of the Body of Christ that is the church, that all may dwell in peace, safety, and hope.
