What is Constitution Day?

 A celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution  by the Founding Fathers on September 17, 1787

 

September 17th, 2011 

(Observed Sept. 16th, 2011)

 In honor of Constitution Day, all educational  institutions receiving federal funding are required to  hold an educational program pertaining to the United  States Constitution

  • Free admission to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA 
  • Free "Constitution Hall Pass" webcast featuring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
  • A 224th birthday celebration for the Constitution's signing and a special visit by George Washington
  • An opportunity to "sign" the Constitution
  • A Constitution Day website that serves as a clearinghouse for constitutional teaching resources:
