Since 1990, Disability Pride Month has celebrated people with disabilities, their identities and culture, and their positive contributions to society. Over 1 billion people make up the global disability community, the most expansive and diverse minority group globally. While it's not officially celebrated in Canada we wanted to celebrate here in Squamish.
At the library, we strive to welcome people of all abilities. We aim to make our space and resources as accessible as possible. For example, this week we added a new accessible computer kiosk. It has an adjustable desk with no chair, making it wheelchair friendly. The computer keyboard has large print lettering and high contrast. It's available for patrons to browse our catalogue.
