As we face the conflicts and corruption of our time, what could be better than remembering the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! Here are opportunities for crossing all lines of difference, and celebrating the redemptive power of love found in one who lived, served and died creating a more inclusive, equitable and beloved community.

We begin with Marian Wright Edelman and the Interfaith Shabbat Service on Friday evening. Sunday’s Interfaith Service features inspiring music, dance performances and reflections by the Rev. Dr. Haywood Robinson and Imam Tarek Elgawhary. Check out the video on volunteer service and on Monday come to the Memorial Scholarship Breakfast, the 48th Annual Tribute in Rockville and the 25th Annual Celebration at the Music Center at Strathmore.

By honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. we recall what is best about America, experience the richness of our diversity and become better prepared for achieving liberty and justice for all.
On  Monday, January 20 , join thousands of other county residents in honoring the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in the Volunteer Center’s annual  MLK Day of Service  event, set for 1-3 pm at the Bethesda North Marriott and Conference Center.
