Los Angeles County Fire Department Explorer Disaster Drill
This past weekend, the Los Angeles County Fire Department Explorer Program put training into action with intense, hands-on disaster drills, and 112 Explorers rose to the challenge.
From cutting fire lines and running hoses to knocking down pallet fires, participants tackled real-world scenarios with focus and determination. They learned helicopter rescue strategies, participated in a hazardous materials scenario, worked alongside search-and-rescue K9 teams, and even gained hands-on experience using the Jaws of Life during simulated vehicle rescues.
And for many, the biggest challenge? Counquering heights on the rappelling course, stepping outside their comfort zones, and building confidence along the way.
Experiences like this are more than training; they're a glimpse into the future. We can't wait to see where these dedicated, driven Explorers go next!
