Success Story

Parent Success Story: Finding Strength Through Triple P and Family Support

Meet Monica, a courageous parent whose journey is a powerful example of hope, healing, and the impact of support.

Monica experienced the heartbreak of losing custody of her children during a period of active addiction. As part of her path to reunification, she participated in several parenting classes, one of which was the Triple P Positive Parenting Program.

“Triple P changed everything for me,” she shared. “I took the class and worked with a coach. I learned so much about how to actually be a parent to my child, and I’ve been able to put those practices into action.”

Thanks to her dedication and the guidance she received, Monica is now reunited with one of her children, who lives with her full-time as she continues her journey toward full custody.

“I’m forever thankful for the help I received,” she says. “Triple P gave me tools that helped me rebuild not just my family, but myself. I’m forever grateful.”

We are proud to walk alongside parents like Monica as they work to create brighter futures for their children.

Community Connections

We were delighted to have the Civitan Club of Salisbury as our guests last week. They had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal and engage in meaningful fellowship. During their visit, they toured our facilities and gained insights into the incredible work we are dedicated to. It was a pleasure to share our mission and achievements with such an enthusiastic group.

PIL Professional Tip of the Month

✨Triple P Tip: Planned Ignoring✨

Sometimes, the best response… is no response at all.

That’s the idea behind Planned Ignoring — a simple but powerful parenting strategy!

When your child uses minor misbehavior (like whining, pouting, or mild tantrums) to get attention, calmly withhold your response—no eye contact. No reaction. No reinforcement.

🚫 Not for serious or unsafe behavior

✅ Perfect for attention-seeking habits that don’t harm anyone

With consistency and patience, your child will learn that these behaviors don’t “work” — and positive ones will start to shine through! 🌟

Employee Partner of the Month

Asber Ortiz is celebrated for her ability to connect with people and nurture lasting relationships. Her favorite part of working at PIL is meeting new parents, staff, and children, and she treats each interaction as an opportunity to learn and grow. She developed this sense of responsibility early on, stepping in as a “mom” figure for her siblings while her parents worked long hours to support the family. Those experiences made her a patient and compassionate individual, qualities that shine through in her work.
