The Haunted History of the U.S. Capitol

The spirits of democracy might not be the only ones haunting the U.S. Capitol! Since its construction in the 18th century, spooky tales have filled its halls. In 1898, the Philadelphia Press even called it “the most thoroughly haunted building in the world.” With Halloween around the corner, dive into some of the Capitol’s most famous ghost stories—from John Quincy Adams’ lingering “NO!” to the cursed Demon Cat and blood-stained steps of a tragic murder.
