Award

GaHIN Wins Big!

The Georgia Health Information Network has been honored with both the 2026 Regional Impact Award and the World Impact Award—a significant achievement recognizing innovation and measurable impact on a global scale.

Presented through InterSystems and awarded by an independent panel from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, this distinction highlights organizations that are advancing healthcare through data, collaboration, and forward-thinking leadership.

Out of hundreds of initiatives worldwide, GaHIN stood out for its ability to turn connectivity into real-world outcomes—strengthening care coordination, improving visibility, and supporting whole-person care across Georgia.

This recognition reflects more than progress. It represents sustained impact, innovation, and a commitment to building a more connected healthcare ecosystem.

On the Ground: Advancing the Conversation on Social Care

At the Spring 2026 National Human Services Data Consortium (NHSDC) Conference, GaHIN joined national leaders to explore the challenges of homelessness and how data exchange can help create solutions.

Stronger Partnerships, such as the partnership between GaHIN and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, have Greater Impact. Data must move beyond silos to reach those who can act on it in real time.

During the panel discussion, “Data for a Changing Desert,” GaHIN helped spotlight a critical shift in healthcare:

Data alone is not enough—connection is what drives action.

Key insights from the discussion included:

Stronger Partnerships, Greater Impact

Data must move beyond silos to reach those who can act on it in real time.

Human-Centered Interoperability

Technology should simplify care, not complicate it—creating seamless experiences for both providers and patients.

Governance that Drives Change

True transformation happens when data is not just shared, but responsibly governed and activated across partners

Also on the ground, GaHIN participated in the Georgia Medicaid Spring Fair, where the Georgia Department of Community Health shared key updates on emerging priorities, programs, and policy changes impacting providers across the state.

The event featured:

• A leadership-led opening session highlighting critical Medicaid updates

• Breakout sessions covering timely topics for the provider community

• Interactive Q&A opportunities to address real-world challenges

These conversations are essential to ensuring providers are informed, aligned, and equipped to deliver high-quality care in a rapidly evolving landscape.

As social care needs continue to grow, GaHIN remains committed to building the infrastructure that connects healthcare and community organizations—ensuring no individual’s needs go unseen.

New Functionality:

Expanding Blood Bank Visibility for Safer Care

Georgia Health Information Network continues to enhance its statewide health information exchange with expanded Blood Bank data integration, delivering critical insights directly to clinicians when it matters most.

Through this functionality, clinicians can now access:

• Facility and provider sources of blood bank data

• Dates of service for transfusion-related care

• Lab results, including antibody and antigen information

• Longitudinal views to track trends over time

• Drill-down capabilities for detailed lab insights

This enhanced visibility supports faster, safer clinical decision-making—especially for patients requiring frequent transfusions or those with complex conditions such as sickle cell disease.

By ensuring that vital blood data follows the patient across care settings, GaHIN is strengthening transfusion safety and reinforcing its commitment to whole-person, connected care.

Whether you’re already connected to GaHIN or exploring participation for the first time, we can help you join the RBC Antibody Initiative.
