I Love Sugar Skulls Workshops

Sunday, October 13

12:30 - 1:30 & 2:00 - 3:00 pm

Design and decorate your own “calavera de azúcar” (sugar skull) in one of two hands-on workshops led by the talented Rob-O of I Love Sugar Skulls.

Choose from two sessions:

💀 2:00-3:00 pm

Workshops include all materials, expert instruction, and admission to all current Museum exhibits.

¡Pleibol! In the Barrios and the Big Leagues takes audiences on a journey into the heart of American baseball to understand how generations of Latinas/os have helped make the game what it is today. Their inspirational stories gesture toward larger themes in American history that connect us all, on and off the diamond.

“The Poet and the Silk Girl” Book Talk with Satsuki Ina

Saturday, November 9, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Join author Satsuki Ina at the California Museum for a discussion of her new memoir, "The Poet and the Silk Girl: A Memoir of Love, Imprisonment, and Protest," the story of the Ina family, who were among the 125,000 people of Japanese ancestry that the U.S. forcibly displaced and incarcerated after declaring war on Japan in WWII.

Tickets are just $5 or FREE for California Museum members.

WEST COAST FUSION

At the West Coast Fusion event on Saturday, September 5, Chef Koichi Mizushima guided attendees through the unique blend of California’s bounty and Japanese culinary traditions.

From the iconic California Roll to the resilience showcased in our Uprooted exhibit, the day was filled with delicious food and powerful stories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unique experience, capped off with a Q&A and sake tasting with Chef Koichi and our wonderful docents.

Road Closures: The IRONMAN California triathlon is coming to town, and downtown Sacramento will experience road closures as a result. Make sure to plan extra time to get to the Museum & park!
