Friday, Aug. 30-Monday, Sept. 2
The Recycle Sale will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30-Sunday, Sept. 1 and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2 in South Auditorium. Items for the sale include housewares, linens, furniture and lawn equipment.
9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31
Lakeside Environmental Stewardship Society (LESS) volunteers will collect hazardous household materials behind the Lakeside Schoolhouse. Items that will be accepted include all types of paint, aerosol cans, paint-related materials, motor oil, all household batteries, hand-held propane tanks, antifreeze, fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs and more.
7-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31
Held near the Pavilion, this popular event allows children of all ages to meet the Danbury Township Volunteer Fire Department and explore their firetrucks. The crew will also be selling tickets for their annual Spaghetti Dinner , scheduled for 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2 at Wesley Lodge.
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31
Rockapella has become one of the world’s most sophisticated, lasting and imitated vocals groups of modern music. In this new era of a capella fandom, few groups are more influential with their sound.
9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31
Following Rockapella's performance in Hoover Auditorium, fireworks will offer a spectacular finale to the holiday weekend. A barge will be used to launch the fireworks from the north end of the dock, weather permitting.

Bishop Gregory V. Palmer will serve as Lakeside’s guest preacher at the 10:30 a.m. Hoover Community Worship Service. His sermon, titled "Christian Hospitality," is based on Hebrews 132:1-18; 15:16; and Luke 14:1,7-14. Supported by The Rev. Dr. Bud Cox Endowment.
11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1
Celebrate the end of the summer at Lakeside's Labor Day Weekend Cookout . The menu includes choice of hamburger or hotdog, potato salad, chips and cookies.
11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1
To celebrate Labor Day weekend, there will be live entertainment in Bettinger Park with JK All Day, roving magic with Ed Ellis and The Shootouts.
6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1
For the last time this summer, we'll come together to celebrate Lakeside and how it has touched the lives of newcomers and families who have visited for generations. The celebration includes hymn singing and season reflections from President/CEO Kevin Sibbring and Lakesiders.
9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3
Before the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus pool is drained for the summer, all dogs are invited to swim and play. Dogs weighing 30 pounds and below will swim from 9-9:30 a.m., and dogs weighing more than 30 pounds will swim from 9:30-10 a.m. If a pet owner owns multiple dogs that would fit both categories, then all of those dogs will be permitted to swim during the 9:30-10 a.m. slot.
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, usage of the Wellness Center will switch to a monthly subscription plan. All Lakeside proper­ty owners are eligible to sign up for the subscription, which includes usage of the Magruder Hospital Fitness Room for age 14 and older. Read more...
Lakeside is partnering with Education Opportunities Tours to take you on a nine-day European adventure to see the “Oberammergau Passion Play” with fellow Lakesiders from Sept. 21-29, 2020. Visit our website for more information.
Lakesiders of all ages are invited to submit photos to be featured in the 2020 Calendar of Events brochure , as well as Lakeside's social media pages, website, The Front Porch blog, Lakesider newspaper, advertisements, etc.
Looking Ahead
Saturday, Oct. 12
This free, peninsula-wide event includes a variety of activities for families: live entertainment, children's crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, arts & crafts vendors, a farmers' market, hayrides, shopping, dining and much more in Lakeside and the Village of Marblehead. We've also added a Clambake Dinner following the day's festivities.
Saturday, Dec. 7
Lakeside is expanding its annual Community Christmas Dinner into an all-day event filled with children’s activities, family-friendly entertainment and much more! Holiday movies will also be featured. Festivities will be held in conjunction with the Marblehead Merchants’ “Village Lights,” an event that highlights local shops and restaurants on the peninsula.
