SONJE MAYO IS BACK IN JUNE

SONJE MAYO

Sonjé Mayo was born in South Africa in 1945. At barely four years old, she went to her first classical ballet class and never looked back!

After certifying as a physical therapist at the University of Cape Town, her career as a professional dancer took her to London, England, and then to the USA where she studied with Luigi and Martha Graham School in NYC. It was here at the Graham School where Sonjé was encouraged to go to Joe Pilates and then had the privilege of training with Joe. “That changed my life”!

Sonjé has become known for her rehabilitative expertise as a Pilates instructor. She is certified as a Schroth therapist, which is the most successful conservative method of treating Scoliosis.

Currently Sonje teaches many workshops nationally and internationally.

At Authentic Pilates Learning Center^TM LLC, we take education very seriously. Our teacher trainers have almost 50 years of collective experience, we have a large, fully equipped studio, a superior dedication to our program, and hundreds of satisfied clients who will attest to the fact that our knowledge and caring has contributed to their improved physical condition.

Our name, Authentic Pilates Learning Center^TM LLC, describes who we are and what we offer. For us, “authentic” means we have been trained by Joseph Pilates’s first protégé, Romana Kryzanowska. The work we pass on to our students comes directly from this original work without exception.

THE PROGRAM OUTLINE - COMPREHENSIVE, BRIDGE AND INDEPENDENT STUDY

The Authentic Pilates Learning Center LLC Teacher Trainer Program starts with the Basic System Weekend Seminar followed by apprenticeship hours at the studio.

The program consists of three stages and requires a minimum hours of:

60 hours of training seminars (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced)
600 hours of apprenticeship (practical training)
100 hours (minimum) of Pilates training (50 private + 50 semi/Trio-private sessions)
36 hours of mini-workshops covering various teaching technique topics (1 wrkshp/month)
36 hours of apprentice meetings addressing Q&As (1 meeting/month)
4 hours of anatomy workshop
3 practical tests
3 written tests

It is required that students complete their apprenticeship within 12 months from the start of the program. An extension may be granted upon request.

Training seminars, anatomy workshops, apprentice meetings and mini-workshops can be re-taken as many times, at no additional cost, for the time that the apprentice is in the program.
