Los Angeles, May 20, 2021 – Today is National Adopt a Rescue Dog Day and what better way to celebrate than by “pawing it forward” and helping orphaned furry friends at LA Animal Services find new homes! National Adopt a Rescue Dog Day was established to bring awareness to the wonderful dogs in shelters who need homes of their own.
In the spirit of National Adopt a Rescue Dog Day, here are some ways we can ‘paw it forward”:
Adopt a Pet
LA Animal Services has some fantastic pets ready to become a part of your family. When you adopt from LA Animal Services, you will get a pet who’s already spayed or neutered, microchipped, licensed, and fully vaccinated.
If you would like to adopt a pet, follow these steps:
-
Visit laanimalservices.com/adopt and identify an animal you would like to adopt.
- Call 888-452-7381 with the Animal ID number of A# (example: A1234567).
- LA Animal Services will share all the information available on that animal.
- If you’re interested in moving forward with the adoption, LA Animal Services will take your information and schedule a pick-up appointment.
- During the appointment, staff will introduce you to your selected animal.
- To follow COVID-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be observed and face coverings will be required during your scheduled appointment.
- Appointments will be scheduled daily at our six LA Animal Services Centers from 11am to 4pm.
Foster a Pet
If you cannot adopt a pet, fostering is a great option, where you can provide a staycation for a week or two for a dog or a cat.
If you would like to foster a pet, follow these steps:
- Visit laanimalservices.com/adopt and identify an animal you would like to foster.
-
Email the volunteer liaison at [email protected] with your completed foster application (if you have not fostered before), a picture of your government-issued identification with photo (i.e., driver’s license), and the Animal ID number(s) of the pets you want to meet.
- We will call you once your application is reviewed to schedule an appointment.
Help Animals at LA Animal Services
Donations help to provide programs for the community such as The Pet Food Pantry, which provides City residents with free pet food for their animal companion. If you are not able to donate financially, you can always donate your time, skills, or supplies.
