Celebrate National Adopt a Senior Pet Month with LA Animal Services
Los Angeles, November 13, 2020 – Bring home a senior pet from LA Animal Services to celebrate November as Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

Adopt a Senior Pet Month was established to bring about awareness of senior animals in our shelters and to encourage senior pet fostering and adoptions.

A senior pet usually has already lived in a home, they are calmer and require less supervision than puppies and kittens!

If you are a senior too, LA Animal Services offers the Senior for Seniors program, which matches senior companion animals (seven years and older) from our Animal Services Centers with senior adults (62 years and older). Senior adopters also receive 50 percent off the adoption fee, and pets adopted from LA Animal Services already come microchipped, vaccinated as well as being spayed or neutered.
5 Health Reasons Why Companion Animals
Are Great for Senior People
  1. Companion animals have been known to help lower blood pressure.
  2. Bringing a trustworthy pet companion can provide a sense of security.
  3. Seniors become more active and go for more walks and are generally more active than those without companion animals.
  4. Most everyone, but especially seniors, will say that companion animals are their friends. You are less likely to be lonely with a canine or feline or bunny friend around.
  5. Seniors take good care of their companion animals, and better care of themselves when they care for a companion animal.

Adopt a Pet in Our Home to Home™ Program
  • With the recent launch of the Home To Home™ program, LA Animal Services gives pet owners who can no longer keep their pet the opportunity to find new, loving homes without having to surrender them to the shelter by posting their pet on LAanimalservices.home-home.org
  • Through Home To Home™, pets can go from their current home right into another. The platform also offers potential new owners the opportunity to communicate directly with the current owners to get firsthand information about the companion animal they are interested in adopting.
