National Library Card Sign-Up Month

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, the perfect time to discover (or rediscover!) all the amazing resources Lincoln Library has to offer.

A library card is your ticket to books, movies, digital resources, programs, and so much more—all for free. Whether you’re a lifelong reader or just beginning your library journey, there’s something here for everyone. Stop by this month to sign up for your card and unlock endless possibilities!

Fee Amnesty Graphic

We’re also celebrating with a special Amnesty Program beginning September 2nd! This initiative is designed to welcome back library users who may feel unable to use our services due to outstanding fees.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Patrons may receive a one-time credit of up to $50 toward fees (not for lost/damaged items or future charges).
  • If a balance remains after the credit, patrons can set up a payment plan and still enjoy eCard access to electronic resources.
  • The credit does not cover the $10 debt collection fee or the Non-Resident Fee. However, accounts with only the $10 fee will still be able to check out materials.

This program runs through September only—a great opportunity for patrons to reconnect with all the library has to offer.

And because we know how much you love story time, we’ve added a little something extra: two special Saturday “Encore” Story Times on September 6th and October 11th.

These will be the exact same program we offer on Thursday, just with the bonus of a weekend option for your family.

"Who's on First: What's Up with Freedom of Petition?"

Join us as we take a look at the last freedom set out in the First Amendment: Freedom to Petition the Government.

The lesser-known right to petition has played a pivotal role in major civil rights movements, but today raises pressing questions about fairness, influence, and where to draw the line between citizen advocacy and corporate lobbying.

Blood on Her Tongue Book Cover

Spinetinglers Horror Book Club

This book club for fans of ghosts, vampires, and other spooks and ghouls meets on the third Tuesday of each month for discussion of a different horror book.

This month's selection is Blood on Her Tongue by Johanna Van Veen. In 1887 Netherlands, Lucy’s twin sister Sarah falls mysteriously ill—refusing food, speaking in riddles, and fixating on a centuries-old corpse unearthed on her husband’s estate. Determined to protect her from the asylum, Lucy digs into the truth, only to discover both sisters are keeping dangerous secrets. As Sarah’s behavior grows dark and ravenous, Lucy must face whether madness or something monstrous is consuming her twin.

Vanishing Half Book Cover

Black Authors' Book Club

This book club is for anyone wishing to discuss books by Black authors. We are creating this space for all readers to share & learn about the Black experience, and books that reflect that perspective.

Twin sisters from a southern Black community run away at sixteen, but their lives diverge drastically—one builds a life with her Black daughter in their hometown, while the other passes as white, hiding her past from her family. Decades later, their daughters’ lives intersect, forcing long-buried truths to the surface. Spanning generations and geographies, The Vanishing Half is both a powerful family saga and a profound exploration of identity, race, and the pull of the past.
