Savannah, GA, April 24, 2023 –
Live Oak Public Libraries invites the community to celebrate National Library Week, April 24-29, 2023. Visit your local library to discover resources and activities for all ages.
Libraries are full of stories, from picture books and large print, to audiobooks and ebooks, plus music and movies. And there’s more to the story!
Libraries create opportunities for everyone. Libraries are welcoming spaces that bring communities together for entertainment, education, and enrichment through book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, and art classes. View the calendar of programs at
liveoakpl.org/programs.
This month, libraries are also presenting
special local history exhibits in collaboration with community partners. Oglethorpe Mall Library hosts the Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary "Catch the Wave" science exhibit featuring the wonders of the ocean life off of Georgia's coast. Islands Library hosts the Fort Pulaski National Monument "Workers' Village" archaeology exhibit displaying the complex stories of people who built the fort.
Spring is a beautiful time of year, and the community can use their library cards to explore nature and culture with
free passes to Georgia State Parks, Coastal Heritage Society sites, and Telfair Museums. The Seed Library offers free seed packets to start your own garden at home. Soon, several library locations will plant community gardens for patrons to use and enjoy.
Libraries also advance economic empowerment in communities by providing technology access and support for job seekers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. You can even check out a laptop and Wi-Fi hotspot to get work done at home.
This past year, more people visited libraries, attended programs, and got library cards. More people used library computers, internet, and digital resources. View the
2022 Community Report to see how Live Oak Public Libraries is making a difference in the community.
