Taking care of our staff in crisis

We have always considered and treated our staff as family through thick and thin. Our longtime preschool assistant, Samnang Sam, recently and unexpectedly lost her young husband to Liver Cancer after a brief illness. Jim Riley (a longtime donor) was visiting Siem Reap at the time and heard of her plight. He stepped into the role of a guardian angel with immediate offer of help for widow Samnang and her 3 children.

We found out that the family had taken on a $6,000 loan for home improvement and payback was now impossible since the death of her 38 year old husband. Jim, donated $6,000 to clear the debt and CCDO offered her a possibility of full time work. Her employment continues with a better salary as she will now also take care of our Tapang library.

One of her three daughters will attend high school next year and we are on the lookout for a scholarship sponsor

Visitors

CCDO proudly hosted a visit of Child’s Dream to showcase the ongoing English Language Teaching Project that they are sponsoring. The project encompasses provincial training colleges as well as schools in several districts. The honored guests included Child’s Dream Co-founder, Daniel Siegfried, plus their executive director Yem Khlok and Narong Sean, head partner manager. They also brought donor Stefan German, CEO of the Ursimone Wietlisbach foundation.

Staff News

After 8 years of working with our director, Leangseng Hoy, we recently parted company. We wish Leangseng well in following his passion in his new venture.

We have restructured the organization to give more authority to our CCDO executive team on the ground to manage their projects. Founder and president, Jenni Lipa, will step into the role of interim executive director.
