Durham, ECU &

New Hanover

Last weekend was an exhilarating showcase of hands-on science that ignited the imaginations of students across North Carolina! With three thrilling tournaments taking place on March 1st in Durham, East Carolina University, and New Hanover, we truly brought the heat!

The highlight was undoubtedly the Coastal Countdown at New Hanover, a fiercely competitive event where students dove into the science of coastal change. They engaged in critical thinking about the causes of sea level rise and its significant impacts on water quality, ecosystems, and chronic flooding. A heartfelt shout-out goes to Dr. Natalie Nelson, the visionary behind this inspiring event—be sure to check out her insights on the STEM Yard podcast!

Let's take a moment to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students, who are living embodiments of the NC Science Olympiad's mission to inspire the next generation of innovators. We are buzzing with anticipation for our upcoming events—join us as we continue to make STEM education not only accessible but also incredibly exciting throughout North Carolina! Stay tuned and get ready for more thrilling opportunities!
