Join us in celebrating
PRIDE Month
By Ashley Tatum, Case Manager
As we all celebrate PRIDE Month this June, we typically think about parades, celebrations and liberation. However, we must also acknowledge that "coming out" and being our authentic selves isn’t always or necessarily easy, and for some it can lead to estranged family relationships.
This is why when people ask how they can be allies or support the LGBTQIA+ community, one of my favorite things to suggest is to volunteer with Free Mom Hugs. The message behind Free Mom Hugs is simple: we attend PRIDE, protests and other human rights events to offer support in one of the simplest ways-hugs. You will see groups of parents and allies all across the country willing to hug those who need it most. No matter how inclusive our nation may become, someone can always use a hug from mom.
