A Peach of a Day!

From bushels of fresh-picked freestone peaches to
five types of peach pie, to cobblers and crumbles, and donuts and danish --- you name it, we'll have it! Oh, and did we mention homemade peaches n cream ice cream? And fresh squeezed peach lemonade? Or peach upside down cake, and peach cobbler parfaits? We could go on and on... but the best thing would be for you to come on down to the circle and immerse yourself in all this peachy goodness!

Plus... live music, a Cheese Workshop, and lots of fun kids activities including a Teddy Bear Clinic, "Compost" Cupcake Making and a Peach Blossom craft at the ACE Tent.

Valley Milkhouse will also offer a free workshop at noon on building the perfect cheese board. Stefanie will teach market guests to taste and evaluate cheeses, and answer questions about artisan cheeses in Pennsylvania and the industry as a whole. Award Winning Tomato!
Salvaterra's is offering bulk bag sales on their award-winning Salvaterra's Select tomato. This tomato won the S eed Savers Exchange paste tomato trials and the seed was sent o Norway to be saved in the seed vault. Due to the weather these tomatoes will only be be available for a couple of weeks. This is also the first time Matt & Jess have grown this variety for sale. These tomatoes have great flavor and can be eaten as a slicing tomato as well!
Comeback Farm

Just in time for Peachfest, Comeback Farm is picking the first organic Red Havens of the year, long known as the industry standard for taste and flavor. Also coming in are Raritan Rose white peaches and Galaxy and Saturn donut peaches, appropriately named because the flavor is out of this world!
Rosedale Blueberry Farm has provided us with a late picking of organic Elliott blueberries. And no sugar added organic peach, apple and pear butter will also be available.
Scholl Orchards
Scholl Orchards is celebrating Peach Day with a peach of a deal... Half Peck $12, Peck $17, anf Half Bushel $30.

But peaches aren't the only fruit in the tent this week. They'll also have three varieties of plums, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, and lots of veggies too!
Backyard Growers

This week for the first time the Armenian cucumber will be offered by the Backyard Growers. This fruit which tastes like a cucumber and looks somewhat like a cucumber inside, is actually a variety of muskmelon, a species closely related to the cucumber. The skin is very thin, light green, bump-less, and can be eaten without peeling. One fruit will fill a large bowl! Pickling cucumbers and "sweet success" cucumbers will also be available!

It might just be the sweetest day of the year but two spicy new recipes have emerged out of the Easton Public Market Kitchen to celebrate Peach Day; Martha's Gingery Peach Chutney and Ada's Peach Salsa. Chef tips: Use the chutney to saute some local veggies or as a condiment for grilled meat. Grab a bag of your favorite chips for the salsa or pair with salmon of grilled chicken! Which peach pairing will you choose?!

Valley Milkhouse
This weekend, Valley Milkhouse and Dove Song Dairy bring you PEACH CHEVRE! This delicious, creamy, tart and fresh goat cheese is blended with peaches for the a special treat on this annual Peach Day at the market. Spread it on crackers or toast, or dollop it onto a seasonal market fresh salad for a sweet and tangy touch. Valley Milkhouse will also be bringing its new, experimental cider-washed Brie - a must try. Cultured butter, Witchgrass, Blue Bell and Lady's Slipper will also be available. And don't forget to join in on the cheese tasting fun at Stefanie's cheese workshop at the market at 12 noon!

A Bittersweet Goodbye & Lots of Pie

Liza is pulling out all the stops for peach Day! She'll be offering a plethora of fresh-baked peach pies, including: peach crumb, peach melba (peach raspberry), peach blueberry. But that's not all! There will be peach cobbler (perfect with a scoop of Chef Ada's homemade vanilla ice cream) and... peach jam- filled DONUTS!! Plus P each sour cream cake, peach upside down cake (by the slice), and Peach Sticky Buns. W/OWZA!

College Hill Cakes will also be featuring their zucchini goat cheese quiche and the Magharita quiche (roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and fresh basil).

Other goodies will include key lime pie, cinnamon buns, GF BB Brownies, soft pretzels, and GF chocolate almond torte.

Now for the sad news... This Saturday will be College Hill Cakes' last regular day at the market. Liza has accepted a position as a full time Family and Consumer Health teacher at a New Jersey High School. This job will allow her to experience the culinary arts in a brand new way --- through teaching others! We wish Liza all the best and hope to have her back as an occasional guest vendor. That being said, be sure to stock up on all your favorites this weekend!

Bob Keel hails from West Virginia and plays venues in the DC area, Virginia and Maryland. He also is a favorite of our friends at ShawneeCraft Brewing in the Poconos and will be performing there this Friday night before he heads to Easton and the Music Tent at EFM this Saturday. Bob's original music is influenced by a broad range of music genres, from classical, to hip hop, to folk. So pull up a chair on the north lawn of the Circle from 9:30 am - 11:30 am and have a listen to Bob's 'West Virginy' sound!
