Summer Flavors at the Saturday Market

At the Market this Saturday, 35 local farmers and producers will bring peaches, cantaloupe and watermelon, sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, peppers, carrots, potatoes, lettuces, kale, spinach, arugula, beets, radishes, oysters, live crabs, hand-picked crabmeat, grass-fed chicken, lamb, beef, pork, honey, jams, mushrooms, freshly-laid eggs, coffee drinks, kombucha, cold-pressed juices, fresh-baked breads, pastries made with fruit from Market farmers, gluten-free offerings, apple-cider donuts, herb, veggie, and flower plants, beautiful cut-flower bouquets, and much more!

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is unique in that it is producer-only—at this Market, customers buy directly from the farmer who grew the produce. Only vendors who grow, raise, or produce what they sell are allowed in this market. A true farmers market!

Peach Celebration: Henry Bennett and Chef Dru Tevis Demo at 10 am

At 10am in the demo tent, it’s all about peaches! Henry Bennett, a sixth-generation farmer from Bennett Orchards will share all about what it takes to grow Bennett Peaches. Then Pastry Chef Dru Tevis and Chase Cline, owners of the new BrĂ»lĂ© Bakery, will take those peaches and make a fabulous peachy dessert. Chef Dru will be preparing caramel vanilla bean panna cotta with fresh Bennett peaches!

Save the Dates for Tomato Festival and Kids Day!

Children's Storytime at the Market

The very popular Children’s Storytime at the Market is every Saturday at 10 am under the yellow tent as all children and their adults can enjoy listening to books about farming, gardening, and healthy eating read by Market volunteers.

ATTENTION DOG OWNERS:

Please note that dogs and other pets (except for Service Dogs) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers. Customers may still walk their dogs around the other paths and parts of G.H.P. Smith Park but may not bring dogs into the Market.

PARKING

With the new sidewalks to G.H.P. Smith Park, the best place customers can park is at the main parking lot at the Lewes Elementary School (where the Market moves if it rains) at 820 Savannah Road, with just a short walk down the path to Market. Beebe Hospital also generously allows Market customers to park in its outside parking lot.

More than a Market

HLFM's Food Pantry Purchase Program—

Help Your Favorite Farmers

and Local Food Pantries

HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community with fresh local food may purchase produce, meats, eggs, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to the local Food Pantries, including Epworth and Casa San Francisco Food Pantries, every Saturday. It’s so easy--all you have to do is let the vendor know what you want to donate or give $5, $10, $25 to the grower and ask them to put together a selection for the food pantries. The farmer gets your sale, and the food pantry gets the local food. We thank you for your generosity!

SNAP, WIC, SFMNP—

HLFM Matches up to $20 of SNAP

Per Market

The Market continues to match SNAP benefits up to $20 per market, per customer. You can find the SNAP tent inside the Market with volunteers to process your SNAP/EBT and give you the HLFM tokens that can be used at market all season long. WIC and SFMNP benefits are also welcome at the Market.

Join the fun: Volunteer!

Do you come to the Market all the time and wonder what those folks in green HLFM aprons do? Well, you can find out by volunteering for the non-profit Historic Lewes Farmers Market, almost totally run by volunteers. There are two shifts for volunteers, so you only have to commit to a two-hour period.

If you are interested in volunteering please fill out our Volunteer Interest Form today!
