Diamond Hill Road and Douglas Pike Bridges over I-295, Cumberland/Smithfield

Cable guardrail work is planned next week within the I-295 median under the Diamond Hill Road Bridge. This will involve a left lane closure on I-295, under Diamond Hill Road, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

East Main Road Pavement Improvements, Middletown

Next week, our improvements will continue Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the following week of July 7, returning to the regular schedule of Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews will continue curb work, new drainage structures and minor landscaping. East Main Road motorists should anticipate lane shifts from Oliphant Lane to Turner Road.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick

Overnight alternating lane closures are scheduled next week at this project along I-95, from Park Street to Broad Street, Sunday-Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Operations include barrier placement within the right shoulders along both directions of I-95, and under bridge support work on the Route 10 mainline and the I-95 North to Route 10 North, and the Route 10 South to I-95 North ramp bridges over I-95.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

On Friday night, June 27, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., we need to close the right lane along I-95 North, from Exit 38 to the Charles Street Bridge, to remove shielding. Expect temporary ramp closures for guardrail installation, and paving on I-95 at the Exit 37 interchange, Sunday-Wednesday nights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. We’ll also have alternating lane closures for additional work in both directions of I-95, from Exit 36B (Point Street/Eddy Street) to 39A (Branch Avenue), Sunday-Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick/Johnston

Next week, overnight alternating lane closures are scheduled for bridge construction on I-295 North in the vicinity of Route 37, Sunday-Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for bridge painting on I-295 South in the vicinity of Route 37, Monday-Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and for guardrail improvements on I-295 North, from Exit 7 (Scituate Avenue) to Exit 9 (Route 6), Sunday-Tuesday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. We will also close the Route 37 East on-ramp to I-295 North for bridge construction on Wednesday night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please follow signed detour.

Route 146 Reconstruction Project, Lincoln/North Smithfield

We need to close, but not concurrently, the following roads, exits and service roads for bridge work, Sunday-Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Route 146 North Service Road and Exit 18B off I-295 North, the Route 146 South Service Road and corresponding Exit 18A off I-295 South, Route 146 North and South, from Exit 8A to 8C, and its service roads or alternating lanes, and the west side of Sayles Hill Road, from Route 146 to Iron Mine Hill Road.



Although it will remain accessible to local traffic, we are also scheduled to close the Route 146 South Service Road, from the Ski Shop to Sayles Hill Road, Sunday-Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., except for nights when the Rustic Drive in is open, when the road closure will start at 11 p.m. Guardrail installation along Route 146, Sunday-Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., also prompts the Route 146 North closures of Exits 13, Sunday night, and Exit 14, Monday night, plus Exit 13 off Route 146 South, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

School Street Pavement Improvements, Lincoln

Crews continue to install the sewer main along School Street. Next week, they will be working Monday-Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The road is closed, but open to business and local traffic, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 126 (Old River Road) to Main Street, with a signed detour in place.

Tower Hill Road Bridge and Paving, North/South Kingstown

Overnight alternating lane and temporary ramp closures are scheduled along Route 1 (Tower Hill Road,) from Shermantown Road to the Route 4 split for paving, guardrails, and light pole installation  Sunday-Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Please watch for frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zones at the Routes 1 and 138 ramps, Monday-Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and use caution when driving over milled surfaces.

Warwick Corridor Project

Our ongoing bridge demolition, including removal of the bridge beams and decks, requires the closures of I-295 North at the East Avenue overpass, Sunday and Monday nights, and I-295 South at the East Avenue overpass, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Alternating lane closures at this project to remove the bridge beams and decks on I-295 North and South at the East Avenue overpass will take place Sunday-Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on I-95 North and South at the East Avenue overpass, Sunday-Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Washington Bridge & I-195, East Providence/ Providence

Bridge preservation work involves up to two lanes closed on I-195 East and West, from the Warren Avenue off-ramp to the Massachusetts line, Tuesday night, July 1, from I-95 to South Main Street, Tuesday night, July 8, and from Point Street to Eddy Street, Thursday night, July 10, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.


Overnight Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) work is scheduled on I-195 East, with up to two lanes closed from Exit 1A to Exit 1 B-C, Sunday-Wednesday nights, June 29-July 2; and on I-195 East from Exit 1A to Exit 1 B-C, and I-195 West, from the Potter Street overpass to the Gano Street on-ramp, Sunday-Thursday nights, July 6-10. All these operations take place from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.


Tuesday, July 1, begins the approved in-water work period for the remaining demolition of the river piers. Initial activities include installation of temporary protective sheeting in the center span of the river and setup of turbidity curtains. In accordance with CRMC guidelines, debris will be removed from the river as work progresses, placed onto barges and towed to land for transfer into trucks for offsite disposal. Demolition work will take place weekdays only from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. No work is currently planned after 4 p.m. to avoid any disruptive noise during evening hours.
