What's happening here? The NYC Department of Environmental Protection is removing and replacing a leaky fire hydrant right in front of our office. This tough repair includes ripping out pavers and digging seven feet down and around the hydrant. Once the DEP installs the new hydrant, they will restore the area. We are lucky to have such hard-working teams looking out for our neighborhood. Remember, if you see a similar issue, you should reach out to us at info@lincolnsquarebid.org or report it to 311!

New Waste Setout Times Begin April 1

Businesses and residential buildings have two options for setting out waste beginning on April 1. Businesses can either place waste at the curb 1 hour before closing if using a container with a secure lid or after 8:00pm if putting bags directly on the curb. Residential buildings can either place waste out after 6:00pm in a container of 55 gallons or less with a secure lid or after 8:00pm if putting bags directly on the curb. Thanks to the efforts of the NYC BID Association, which the Lincoln Square BID is a part of, DSNY has announced there will be a one-month grace period before fines are levied. You can learn more by visiting nyc.gov/SetoutTimes or calling 311.

Participatory Budgeting Ends on April 2

Participatory Budgeting empowers residents like YOU to decide how to spend public money in our community. Until Sunday, April 2nd, you may cast your vote to fund $1 million in your community towards schools, parks, libraries and other public spaces through PBNYC. In the Lincoln Square neighborhood, you can help decide where Council Members Erik Bottcher and Gale Brewer allocate part of their capital discretionary funds. Voting will be open both online and in person through Sunday, April 2nd. Click here to learn more, and click here to vote online.

Alternate Side Parking

Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations are suspended on Thursday, April 6, 2023, and Friday, April 7, 2023, for Passover, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday. Parking meters remain in effect.

Upcoming Hearings

On April 7 at 11:00am, the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection will hold a public hearing on proposed rules establishing methods for determining the minimum payments that must be made to a food delivery worker by a third-party food delivery service or third-party courier service. For more information, including how to attend the hearing or submit a comment, click here.

On April 20 at 10:00am, the New York City Council Committee on Small Business and Committee on Economic Development will hold a hearing on Oversight - Tourism and the Economic Impact to NYC’s Small Businesses. Click here for the agenda.

Street Closure on April 15

On Saturday, April 15, 64th Street, between Central Park West and Broadway, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 10:00am - 3:00pm due to a school carnival.
