Anita received her master’s degree in teaching from Sam Houston State University and has taught art at Lone Star College since 1979. Her love of nature and nature photography is what inspired her to join the Jesse Jones Park Volunteers.

You can find Anita and her students painting faces at Jones Park festivals throughout the year, including Native American Heritage Day in September. She also helped create a brochure of the Redbud Hill Homestead and the Akokisa Indian Village.

Thanks to her artistic skill and the bountiful knowledge of former volunteer Carmine Stahl, this publication is available in the Nature Center.

An interesting fact about Jim and Anita: they are experienced scuba divers and were members of the Houston Underwater Club. Jim has spent more than 1,000 hours diving in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, and Thailand. Anita has also dived in numerous locations, including the Galapagos Islands, Fiji, and the Red Sea.
