Hi Neighbor,

As our Music in the Square Summer Series comes to a close, I want to invite you to our final performance on Friday, August 29.

From 6-8pm, crowd-favorite Cadillac Jack will rock the Evergreen Village Square for one last time this summer. And, a showing of Lilo & Stitch will take place once the sun fully sets! Invite your family and friends, and join us for a fun night under the stars. Don't forget to bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a cozy experience!

To fully close out the summer, a movie night is scheduled for next month on Friday, September 19, at Meadowfair Park, in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department. More details to come, so stay tuned!

Lastly, we’re putting the spotlight on small businesses in our newsletter!

Check out the “Small Business Spotlight” section to see which District 8 business we’re featuring this time. Know a local gem you’d like to see highlighted? Submit your suggestion here!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Visit the Evergreen Coffee Company!

Located at the Evergreen Village Square, the Evergreen Coffee Co. offers delicious drinks (my personal favorite is the hot cocoa), treats, and amazing customer service!

Since opening their doors in 2010, the Evergreen Coffee Co. has been a strong supporter of our community. Tom and his family have partnered with my office on multiple occasions, providing coffee and hot cocoa for events like Santa at the Square and our Dia de los Muertos Celebration.

Shops like the Evergreen Coffee Co. are the backbone of our City, and we can't build strong neighborhoods without our small businesses! I highly encourage you to visit the Evergreen Coffee Company the next time you're craving a nice cup of coffee.

Building strong neighborhoods starts with you! Joining a neighborhood association not only builds community block by block, but it also brings critical information to the forefront as I draft policy and fight for dollars in the budget. • Norwood - Between Tully Rd, Ruby Ave, Norwood Ave & S. White Rd

Trust for Public Land (TPL) and San José Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services want to support your big ideas for local parks and public spaces!

TPL is offering $1,000–$10,000 grants to community-based organizations, nonprofits, and neighborhood groups to bring life to underused parks and public spaces. Projects can include community events, minor improvements, and temporary park features.

💡 Why this matters: Your work will help us learn what makes a park “high quality” to YOU—and shape future investments across the city.

✅ Projects must be free, open to all San José residents, and focused on active or social experiences.

✅ We prioritize ideas in underserved neighborhoods and programs that engage youth or focus on wellness/STEM.
